Plantation labour Act -
1951
• As per the Plantations Labour Act, 1951,
every worker is allowed annual leave with
wages, calculated at the rate of one day
for every 20 days of work for adult worker
and in case of young person, one day for
every 15 days of work. Every worker is
entitled to accumulate leave upto a
maximum of 30 days
• Important Provisions of the Act
• The main provisions of the Act pertain to:
• (i) Health and Welfare,
• (ii) Hours of Work, Rest Intervals etc.,
• (iii) Employment of children / adolescents
and
• (iv) Annual leave with wages.
• A brief description of these provisions is

Health and Welfare
(a) Medical - Every plantation is required to
provide and maintain, readily available,
medical
facilities for the workers and their families as
may be prescribed by the State
Governments.
(b) Housing - The Act makes it obligatory for
the employers to provide and maintain
