Pigment dyes are not true dyes but are used extensively to color fabrics like cotton and wool due to their excellent light fastness. Pigment dyes do not bond to fibers and must be affixed to fabrics using resins. After dyeing, fabrics are subjected to high heat to set the pigment dyes.
