The document outlines plans to improve infrastructure to support continued growth, including purchasing a new facility to replace the outdated one. It provides details on the next planned facility, including floor plans and assembling a team of designers and contractors to oversee the project. The goal is to position the business for ongoing expansion over the next 5-10 years.
Pig is the only species of livestock from which major portion of the total investments made for establishing the farm can be earned back within 1½ – 2 years. Thus, the farmer is assured of getting over 60 per cent of profit margin from a marginal piggery unit. As a thumb rule, pigs have to put on more than 10 kg of body weight per month by consuming concentrate feed or agricultural byproducts or processed wastes from food industries. Though the white pigs have the western origin (temperate climate), they are better adapted to the Indian agro-climatic conditions. Nevertheless, the Large White Yorkshire breed is the widely accepted breed for pork (bacon, a cured meat from the back and side portions of the pig) production in the global scenario. Strategies have also been formulated to produce lean meat from synthetic strains of pigs through recent research approach, which would create better export opportunities. Hence, farmers without any doubt, can venture into farming this prolific species for their livelihood as well to contribute more to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) to which contribution from livestock sector is, now-a-days, on the increase (from 4 to 8%).
The Farmer’s Hand Book on Pig Production is a colourful and simply-written manual from the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. This book was developed to educate pig farmers .It provides a lot of information on breeding, feeding, housing pigs, detection and treatment of swine diseases.

Modern, minimalist architectural designer focus on the connection between 2 perfect planes, elegant lighting, and careful consideration of the void spaces. More attractive minimalistic home designs are not truly minimalistic, because these use most expensive building materials: concrete, natural stone, stainless steel, glass. and finishes and are larger. In minimalist architecture, interior design elements convey the message of simplicity. The basic geometric forms, elements without decoration, simple materials and the repetitions of structures represent a sense of order and essential quality. The movement of natural light in buildings reveals simple and clean spaces. High walls create the enclosed space and the stone floors used in house and courtyard show the continuality of interior and exterior. Concepts of simplicity transmit the ideas of freedom and essence of living.

Any rulebook on how to start a pig farm will mention the need for a pig pen that is sturdy, spacious and has proper ventilation. Sturdy because pigs tend to become too rough, especially when you are handling them so a weak structure might get damaged easily. Pigs need enough space to move; but not too much so their muscle tissues won’t develop too much and make their meat tough. A good enclosure has around 10 by 10 feet of moving space and around 5 by 5 feet for their eating space..

Breeding involves applying genetic principles to improve economically important traits in domestic animals. The goal is to produce individuals with superior traits and characteristics, and to develop new traits. Common breeding methods include hand mating, pair mating, and harem mating. Inbreeding involves mating closely related individuals over several generations to develop lines for commercial use. It increases homozygosity but also risks inbreeding depression. Outbreeding introduces new genes by mating distantly related animals. Crossbreeding and backcrossing are used to combine desirable traits from different breeds. Grading up and mutations can also be used to improve animal stock over generations.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

12
13. When will the big pig pen be built?
• Soon after the trainees come back from
Bambui (around October 5, 2015)
• It will take about one week to complete the
construction.
• The pig pen will have to be ready to receive
pigs by October 20th
, 2015 at the latest.
03/14/16
Pigs For Pikin project explained to Lower
Fungom beneficiaries
13
14. And then?
• We will transfer a good number of pigs and
piglets, along with feeding and medicines for
them.
• At that point, by the end of October, the first
pig farm will be fully functional!
03/14/16
Pigs For Pikin project explained to Lower
Fungom beneficiaries
14
15. And in a few months…
• If there will be no problems in the
management of the pig farm, piglets will start
to be born around March, 2016.
• These new piglets will be kept in the big farm
for some time and then transferred to other
pig pens…
03/14/16
Pigs For Pikin project explained to Lower
Fungom beneficiaries
15
16. …other pig pens?
• This will be a very important moment of the
project
• We plan to build 3 more pig pens in Lower
Fungom, smaller than the first one.
• Each of these smaller pig pens will have to be
managed by a group of villages, that will
collaborate among themselves in doing this.
• The project will contribute nails for the
construction of these pens, plus pigs’ feeding and
medicines for some months.
03/14/16
Pigs For Pikin project explained to Lower
Fungom beneficiaries
16
17. Where will the smaller pig pens be
located?
• Like the first one, close to a market place, to
the road, not too close to people’s houses.
• The final locations will be decided by the
Village Committees and the Steering
Committee.
• It is fundamental that villages agree on
forming 3 separate groups, each of which will
take care of one small pig pen.
03/14/16
Pigs For Pikin project explained to Lower
Fungom beneficiaries
17
18. Our proposal
• Our suggestion is that:
– Villages should form groups of about the same
population size. So, Koshin and Fang could form a
group by themselves as they are more populated
than the other villages. Other groups may be
formed by 4 or 5 villages if these are small (like
Ngun, Biya, Ajumbu, etc)
– Groups should be made of neighbouring villages
– Villages forming a group should be in good
relations between each other.

cooperate with other villages and to
