Physical Exercise And Mental Exercise Essay
The articles by Erikson et al., Gatz, Korol et al., and Draganski et al. explore the concept of increased physical activity and/or mental activity having
effects on the cognitive function and development or deterioration of the brain as we age. Although I agree that physical exercise is critical in
increasing cognitive function because of the health benefits it provides, as well as the increased blood flow and circulation throughout the body, I
ultimately believe that a healthy brain is not achieved solely by physical exercise or mental exercise, but both. I think there is a link between physical
and mental exercise, and that the combination of these two activities creates higher cognitive functioning of the mind as well as the body. The mind and
body come together and meet to make an overall healthy individual.
The Erikson et al. article supports the idea that physical exercise helps the brain by improving memory and the size of the hippocampus. Erikson and
his colleagues suggested in their study that physical exercise increases the retention of information and improves learning capabilities. The way they
measured this was by studying the increased or decreased size of the subject's hippocampus and levels of BDNF. The control group in this experiment
completed stretching/toning exercises while the experimental group did aerobic exercise; the experimental group ended up having a larger
hippocampus volume than when starting out, as well as higher levels of BDNF; the

Personal Exercise Plan Essay
Personal Exercise Plan I am going to organise my plan and then perform a personal exercise program, the overall aims of my personal training
programme are to: – 1. Improve specific and current fitness levels required for my sporting activity football e.g. Cardio vascular endurance but
mainly speed. 2. To improve fitness levels so I can concentrate more on my techniques and skills without having to worry about whether I can endure
a full practice session. 3. To improve the level of the standard of my performance and become more successful with my chosen sport 'football'. I will
organise a set number of sessions over a period of time using the FITT principle (frequency, time,...show more content...
Power will enable me to compete with greater success when trying to win the ball in a tackle and in the air. В· Power is the amount of work done
per unit of time, so when we consider human movement is the product of strength and speed. В· The same work (strength) can be done in a
shorter period of time (speed). Anaerobic and Aerobic Sessions When we reach our anaerobic threshold, it means that we are working so hard that
we cannot get enough oxygen to our muscles quickly enough. Our muscles will have to get energy from the anaerobic energy system instead.
Lactic acid will immediately start to build up. This causes pain, makes us tired and we will not be able to continue at the same intensity for very
long. We will build up an oxygen debt and we will also use up our limited supplies of oxygen. Although aerobic fitness will not be the main aim of
my fitness program, I will be improving it as my general fitness improves and should in turn help better my speed and activities like swimming will
help my cardio–vascular fitness and has other advantages as it will improve my muscular endurance, flexibility and speed and improve circulation.
Having a high anaerobic fitness level will help in my football because it means I will be able to keep going for longer when I have very little

Reflection Paper On Exercise
I am relatively active and usually work out for about 45 minutes five days a week. This is because I was just in fitness for life 1 and have gotten
into the routine of working out. I haven't played any sports as of late, but in the summer time I go biking, hiking, and play tennis often. Winter is
usually a less popular time for me to be exercising just because of how cold it is outside as I do prefer to be outside. Right now I am running
outside and cycling at the gym. I like to work out outside whenever I can. I may run around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, or Lake of the Isles if it is
nice outside. If it is too cold out I go cycling at the Brooklyn Center Community Center. Sometimes I work out with my friend Rachel, but she is
quicker than me so it is harder to keep up. Other times I will bring my dog along for a run and that is usually fun. I am physically active five or six
days in a typical week. I usually work out for around forty five minutes every session and I have found that it is a good amount of time. Exercise makes
me feel very good, but only after the workout session. During, I feel as if I am exploding or dying. It can be very hard. Afterwards I usually feel
very energetic and happy. This is an improvement from the usual slouchy feeling I have during a day I don't exercise on. I think the benefits to me
from exercise are becoming fit, having my mood lifted, feeling more energised, and I tend to feel better rested.
Fitness for life has definitely been a factor in influencing my activity level as it forced me to begin exercising regularly and recording it all. My
parents have also encouraged me to be more active as it is winter and I don't do very many activities that make me move during the winter. My
friends have also influenced my activity level by having me run with them, however, they are much faster than me. I think that I am at a great
activity level right now and don't feel a need to increase it because at this point every new workout is a challenge. Having to work during the week
keeps me from exercising because I only have forty five minutes between getting home from school and then going to work to do anything, and I'd
prefer to just rest for that time as I would be on my feet for my

The Importance of Physical Exercise Essay
The Importance of Physical Exercise
What is exercise? The actual definition of exercise is; to use repeatedly in order to strengthen or develop, but to make it simpler, exercise is doing
programs and workouts to keep fit, for example, running, hiking, bicycling, and any active sport.
Most Americans do little or no exercise during work or rest hours. Today there aren't many jobs requiring intensephysical activity. Instead of walking,
people use automobiles or public transportation. Instead of being physically active, people usually watch TV in their free time. Some sports such as
bowling, golf, and tennis (doubles) provide some exercise, but do not provide as much exercise as other more vigorous sports.
Exercise is very important...show more content...
This happens when a person exercises too hard for too long, this mostly happens to people that have been inactive for a while.
In some situations, people have died while exercising. In these situations, most of the deaths have been by overexertion in people who have had heart
problems. For people who are under the age of thirty, these heart conditions are usually from heart defect present at birth. For the people that are over
the age of 40, the heart condition is usually coronary artery, which is the buildup of deposits of fats in the heart's blood vessels. A lot of these deaths
have followed by warning signs such as chest pain, lightheartedness, fainting, and extreme breathlessness. These are symptoms that should not be
ignored and medical attention should be advised immediately.
Exercising too hard is not good for anyone, however, and is especially dangerous for out–of–shape, middle–aged and older people. It is very important
for all people to follow a gradual and sound exercise program.
If you are wondering how long it would take to be in shape, think about this; look at how long you have been out of shape and it will take about that
much time to get back in shape if you exercise properly.
With some of this information earlier stated, exercise seems pretty dangerous, but it's not very dangerous at all, you just need to be careful. No
research studies have shown that physically active people are more likely to have sudden, fatal heart

Exercise As A Healthy Lifestyle
Dear Karen, I am addressing you about your interest in exercise as a supplemental component in leading a healthy lifestyle. Based on the results of
your medical evaluations, I believe an exercise prescription is a viable option to help you reach your health and general fitness goals. I am excited
for the opportunity to work with you and think you have made an excellent choice to pursue exercise as a treatment option. I like to stress with my
clients that, although the goal is to get you exercising on your own, I am here to teach and support you so that you are comfortable and confident that
you are making decisions that will impact your health in a positive way. Although my services are science based and effective, it is crucial that you do
not use them as a replacement for general medical care from your physician. Exercise is a significant component to health in many ways. In the United
States, the leading causes of premature death are primarily diseases of the heart and circulatory systems. Diseases of utmost significance are coronary
artery disease, stroke, type II diabetes, and cancer. More and more evidence suggests that the increase in deaths with each of these conditions is
correlated with a decrease in the amount of exercise performed by the general population. The good news is that you have taken the first step toward
reversing this trend and I can help you achieve success. Vast amounts of research suggest exercise can help mitigate your risk for cardiovascular

Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Essay
A very important and often overlooked activity in today's society is exercise. Exercise positively influences many aspects of life and people today
are simply not incorporating it into their daily lives. What they don't understand is exercise is extremely beneficial to physical and mental health.
With a healthy mind and body people can go about their day feeling healthier, having a better sense of body image, and can process thoughts more
clearly and concisely. It is also a physiologically natural way of fighting off stressors. What people first think of when they think ofexercise is purely
looking like a model and the fact that people will envy the way you look. While this may be true, and also may be an initial reason people are
attracted to the gym, people who frequently work out quickly learn that exercise creates a euphoric feeling after the gym and it instantly hooks many
people and keeps them coming back.
Some people say exercise is like a drug. While this expression initially seems far–fetched, exercise has an impact on the brain that is very similar to
drugs. What exercise and drugs both have in common is they release "feel–good" chemicals in the brain. The best feeling attainable from exercise kicks
in as soon as you're walking out of the gym, it is an endorphin rush, which is an opioid produced by the body as a physiological response to gratify
itself after coping with a stressor. This endorphin rush creates an addictive effect. People are always looking for ways

Why exercise is important Do you need an emotional lift? Are you worried about heart disease? Do you want to live better and live longer?
Exercising is the right way to go. The benefits of exercise to our body are incredible and help maintain a healthy lifestyle. They include preventing
diseases, improving stamina, strength and toning, and controlling weight. Dieting can be help you reach your goal faster and is part of exercising
as well. You can help your family and others by inspiring to live a healthy lifestyle. The effects will always be positive and they might become an
addiction. Everyone will always say that the benefits sound to good to be true and ask how is it possible. Of course, the amount of work you have
to do and push your self is a lot that the reward will be the benefits listed. The main thing that will keep you going is your body's endorphins. It will
make exercise become an addiction. Endorphins are pain relievers released by your own body and it is something naturally produced which is the
main factor. We do not want to feed our body drugs or unhealthy chemicals. Being active will prevent high blood pressure by boosting high protein
lipoprotein. As you age you do not want to deal with health problems and to prevent that, you should start living a healthy lifestyle. Not only will you
feel great, but also gain self confidence since you will look great as well by being in shape. Your family and friends will thank you due to

so many times that you cannot keep track of the number of programs you have tried. Well you are not alone. In fact, by statistics that would make you
an average American. All the same, working out for the sake of health and well–being is becoming increasingly important as we continue to learn the
effects of inactivity. There are many benefits that arrive from the presence of exercise in your daily routine. Improve strength, improved cardiovascular

The muscles demand more energy and oxygen due to the increased workload that comes from exercise. This causes the heart rate and respiratory rate
to increase in order to provide the required additional fuel to the muscles. In addition, the entire circulatory system works more efficiently due to
vascular dilation and cholesterol reduction. By improving the condition of your cardiovascular fitness you are also helping yourself live longer,
decrease the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, strengthen your cardiovascular system, and the list goes on. These reasons alone could save
you from having heart disease.
Regular physical activity appears to improve the functioning of the immune system. Recent research suggests that people who exercise regularly come
down with fewer colds and flues than their sedentary friends. Regular physical activity seems to strengthen the immune system so that it is better able
to fight the foreign germs that make our bodies sick. Scientists still do not know exactly how exercise preserves immune our strength, so it is really too
early to say what types or amounts of exercise maximize immune function. The evidence so far suggests that moderately vigorous exercise appears to
be the most helpful. Further research has shown that during moderate exercise, several positive changes occur in the immune system. Various immune
cells circulate through the body

Reflection Paper On Exercise
For the past 3 weeks, I have been working on improving my physical fitness by exercising at least 4 days a week, for 1 hour each time.
Incorporating exercise regimen in my daily life has always been something that I wanted to do since I begin my life as a student here at UNC. It's
has never been easy. Since I was a kid, I never had that natural thin, skinny physique. Everyone who saw me always said that, I will never be skin,
my body showed signs of growing into a woman with a thick figure. I knew that It will take time and dedication for me to keep myself at a stable
weight in order to stay healthy, and prevent any health complications in the future. When I lived in Africa, we had no car, so we walked
everywhere we needed to go, which kept me in shape. Once we moved to the United states, I played soccer in high school, and walked home from
school. But even though I walk on campus here in college, because I don't have a car, I realized that the amount of walks that I walk, is not enough
compared to the amount of time I spend seating down in class. Over the years, I have gained so much weight. I always talk about working out toward
getting skinnier and healthier, so that I can feel less tired, and feel better about myself, but starting the workout regimen and getting to the gym is
entirely another thing. Being in school all day, then going home, it's hard for me to get out of the house to go to the gym, instead, I will end up staying
in, and working on school work instead.

The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay
Exercise is one of the most important factors in a persons' life. Physical activity, or the lack of it, can result in a person having a healthy life or cause
them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise are countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic
performance are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable.
Merely not using a person's body is harmful. Not being active results in a person's muscles becoming weak and out of condition. The effectiveness of
a person's heart and lungs will decrease. A person's joints will become stiff and can be injured easily. Inactivity can be as much of a health risk as
smoking. In addition children have become extremely lazy with all the...show more content...
Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully
developed person needs to lessen the risk of having some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information").
Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have different performance related requirements in
accordance with their occupation but all people have the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types of exercise that helps
tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and
bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and
boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it
does not require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood. An example
of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person's requires both anaerobic and aerobic exercise for good health. Simply doing a cardio work out
is not healthy, and for a person to see real results there must be some activity like weight lifting ("Anaerobic").
By performing some type of physical activity each

People spend millions of dollars every year on drugs that they are convinced that will help you lose weight, grow hair, reduce stress, anxiety, and plenty
of other things. I wish I could have all of the money they have wasted on those products. What if they knew of something that would help them lose
weight, improve cardiovascular health, help control stress, help improve muscle, bone, and joint health, benefit diabetic problems, and could do many
other things to benefit their health? Exercise is something that is proven to help all of these things, but not a lot of people exercise on a regular basis.
This is something that you do not have to pay for, so what is stopping everyone from exercising? There are many positive effects of...show more

Although if you're eating habits are unhealthy changing them would be a good idea. An average woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes)
will lose more significant amount of weight than some one who does not exercise at all. But you have to understand that when you are exercising,
you are also replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but I know I would be happy if I didn't lose weight and replaced my fat with
muscle. Overweight but fit people generally have half of the death rate than people who are overweight and unfit. People who have trained for quite a
long time develop more effective mechanisms for burning fat and are capable to remain leaner.
It does not matter what your level of fitness is, it can always be improved with normal exercise no matter what your age, but you have to know that
some kinds of exercise are more effective for cardiovascular health than others. Any type of activity that works large groups of body muscles for
about twenty minutes increases cardiac output and metabolic rate. You should practice this at least three to five times a week for it to be effective
on the cardiovascular system. The heart will become larger and stronger as a result of exercising so it will be able to pump more blood though the
body. The resting heart rate is slower in people who exercise because the heart needs less effort to pump the blood. Being inactive is one of the major
risks for people with coronary artery

Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Group
The low heart rates from the exercise group and the high heart rates from the non–exercise group appeared as a result of both group's overall fitness
level. In order to achieve said results, each individual's average heart rate was taken by feeling a pulse five times. They were then categorized in the
exercise group or non–exercise group depending on whether or not they exercise for twenty minutes three times a week. There were no discrepancies
in the data overall, since the results were as expected. Exercise influenced heart rate by lowering it with an inversely proportional relationship. Regular
aerobic exercise is the kind of exercise that best influences heart rate and will cause heart rate to drop over time, meaning that your heart...show more

The causes, prevention, and treatment of all forms of cardiovascular disease remain active fields of biomedical research, with hundreds of scientific
studies being published on a weekly basis to this very day (Morris 1958). In order for a heart to be functioning properly, several physiological
criteria must be met. The blood vessels to the heart need to be functioning normally. The electrical conduction system has to be working in a
coordinated fashion for the blood to flow efficiently through the heart chambers. Also, all of the heart valves need to be working optimally so that
blood can flow in the proper direction and in adequate amounts. Finally, the arterial and venous systems need to be able to constrict and dilate so that
proper blood pressure is maintained and also so all of the cells of the body get an adequate blood flow (Anonymous C 2015). The exercise group for
this experiment is the group that's more likely to have met all these requirements at a more satisfactory level than the non–exercise group, and
therefore, are at less risk of cardiovascular diseases. Aerobic exercise breaks up stored fatty acids to provide more fuel to the heart (Levitt 2012).
Without exercise, excess energy obtained from food for example, will be stored as fat which can lead to obesity. Nearly 70% of American adults are
either overweight or obese. Being obese increases risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and more (American Heart Association B
2014).

Benefits of Making Exercise a Habit in Your Life
Introduction
Adding exercises into one's daily routines can empower them and change their
whole lifestyle. Many people look at exercise as a way for people who want to lose weight
or to become muscular, but there are a great deal of benefits that can be received from
exercise that you cant see up front, exercise helps to become more organized, help to live
a better and longer life, and increases self esteem and empowers you to take on new
challenges. Gaining muscle and losing fat are the two most important reasons that usually
attract people to the gym, but those are only small benefits that are achieved with
exercise. There are several ways that I have benefited in my life from exercising daily,
besides just making me bigger and stronger.

Exercise has a huge effects on the brain and it may be the best wonder drug of
them all. Scientists are finding that exercise actually helps prevent mental decline as we

the ability to juggle many mental tasks. Researchers believe if you exercise for at least 30
minutes on most days of the week can help keep your brain and blood pumping and
sharp. Exercise improves how well the body can pump blood to the brain, helping it
perform better.

or role in life, you can benefit from regular physical activity. If you're committed, exercise in combination with a sensible diet can help provide an
overall sense of well–being and can even help prevent chronic illness, disability and premature death. Some of the benefits of increased activity are

You'll also increase your muscle mass. With more muscle mass your body burns more calories both while you are exercising and while you are at
rest. With a little research you can learn which exercises will best help you to firm and shape specific areas of your body. Remember to maintain a
balanced routine so as not to overwork or risk injury to a specific muscle group. As you shape and strengthen your muscles they are better able to help
support your spine, a key factor in good posture. By stretching you can improve your flexibility and contribute to the smooth functioning of your
joints. Together, healthy bones and muscles help you to keep your balance, move with agility and grace, and maintain a healthy and youthful
appearance. Regular physical activity fortifies your immune system and helps you to avoid or recover more quickly from colds and other minor
maladies. It can also help to prevent and in some cases reverse many chronic conditions we associate with aging: coronary artery disease, high blood
pressure, diabetes, some cancers, arthritis, osteoporosis, and depression. Fitness results in better coordination of muscles and an increase in strength,
flexibility and stamina. While improvements in these areas certainly help athletic performance, they also help reduce the risk of injury –– stronger,

Being fit can give you immediate benefit of improved vigour, and it may offer long–term benefits as well.
# Gain More Energy. As you exercise regularly, your entire body becomes more efficient. Your heart begins to pump more blood with each beat and to
beat fewer times each minute. Your body develops the ability to make more oxygen available to your cells. That means more energy– greater
productivity, more stamina, and less fatigue.
# Feel Good. Exercise makes you feel good, both physically and mentally. It gives you a psychological lift and strengthens your sense of
accomplishment. The discipline associated with exercise also makes you feel good about yourself: "I feel good that I walked today," or "When I run, I
feel I have control over one area of my life."
# Look Good. Regular exercise plays an important role in helping to reduce body fat and weight and to develop muscle. Fitness can give you a
better–looking, better–proportioned body: a flatter abdomen, firmer thighs, and slimmer hips.
# Feel Younger. Increasing your activity level can reverse or slow the changes that many people think are simply the unavoidable results of aging. In
reality, lack of exercise usually reduces flexibility, strength, blood vessel elasticity, and lung functions; slows reaction time and metabolism; and
increases body fat between ages 30 and 60.
# Build A StrongerHeart. Regular exercise may help reduce or modify some of the risk factors associated with heart disease, such as high

Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Essay
We are all aware that exercise helps you physically. A big portion of us are ignorant to the fact that exercise can help you mentally as well. I say
ignorant because well all know that exercise is physically helpful, but are unaware that it also helps us in our everyday thinking. Exercise helps us
release stress, which helps us be calm and make wiser decisions without overthinking any situation. Many of us, or if not all of us, have experienced
or are experiencing stress of some sort. Instead of crying and staying in bed having bad thoughts, you should go for a jog or even a walk will help.
Keep in mind that exercise does not always have to be weights, gym. Neither does it have a time limit. What I mean is that you can do exercise for
as little as twenty minutes, or as much as two hours or more. Anything that is physical is exercise. Therefore, you can use exercise as a "tool" to
writing a very good paper. Exercise can help improve your writing because it will help you be more creative, and it will help you mentally.
Although it is kind of difficult to realize that exercise helps you mentally, exercise will help you think outside the box. I do not mean it in the way
that of you do not do exercise, you will not make decisions as smart as people who do exercise. What I mean is while doing exercise, you forget
about the outside world, and you just focus on your workout. Also, even if you are just going for a walk and not working out, you are listening to
music while you walk or

My Best Experience With Exercise In My Life
Your body is sore from physical exercises and you feel like giving up. Then you realize that having exercise in your life will help reach your
personal goals. Exercise can be a pain, but it is the good type of pain that motivates us to reach our goals. Currently, exercise has helped me to study
better for tests and to enjoy a fun sport with family. If I continue to have exercise in my life, I will have a healthy future.
My best experience with exercise was when I learned how to ride a two–wheel bicycle. I was 11 years old at the time and my father bought a new
bicycle for me. We went to a park and my father was giving me a little push to move forward. I almost fell and my nerves were kicking in. However, I

I still remember my whole body being sore from the first exercise routine. It showed me how much I needed to exercise my body or I will be in big
trouble when it comes to anything physical. I had to do pushups, sit ups, and so much more. When I went to the gym, I was given a personal
workout to complete. I will make my own exercise plan to implement in my studying hours at college. This gym class helped me to push my
hardest, even if I felt a lot of pain. I was able to overcome difficult workouts, like performing, squats, mountain climbers, and especially burpees.
Time management is a weakness that I still need to work on. I will be able to manage my time with studies and physical activities in college. At the
beginning of the year, my goals were to lose pounds, and improve on exercises that I did not like, such as running and pushups. I improved on my
running by running up a hill multiple times. I had more oxygen pumping throughout my body that enable me to run a farther distance.I lost some
pounds and my family is seeing the change. However, I still have to work on having a better diet. I tend to eat large portions that are not healthy for
me, like two plates of white rice. I will continue to lead a healthier lifestyle and hopefully my siblings do the

Physical Exercise And Mental Exercise Essay

  • 1. Physical Exercise And Mental Exercise Essay The articles by Erikson et al., Gatz, Korol et al., and Draganski et al. explore the concept of increased physical activity and/or mental activity having effects on the cognitive function and development or deterioration of the brain as we age. Although I agree that physical exercise is critical in increasing cognitive function because of the health benefits it provides, as well as the increased blood flow and circulation throughout the body, I ultimately believe that a healthy brain is not achieved solely by physical exercise or mental exercise, but both. I think there is a link between physical and mental exercise, and that the combination of these two activities creates higher cognitive functioning of the mind as well as the body. The mind and body come together and meet to make an overall healthy individual. The Erikson et al. article supports the idea that physical exercise helps the brain by improving memory and the size of the hippocampus. Erikson and his colleagues suggested in their study that physical exercise increases the retention of information and improves learning capabilities. The way they measured this was by studying the increased or decreased size of the subject's hippocampus and levels of BDNF. The control group in this experiment completed stretching/toning exercises while the experimental group did aerobic exercise; the experimental group ended up having a larger hippocampus volume than when starting out, as well as higher levels of BDNF; the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Exercise Plan Essay Personal Exercise Plan I am going to organise my plan and then perform a personal exercise program, the overall aims of my personal training programme are to: – 1. Improve specific and current fitness levels required for my sporting activity football e.g. Cardio vascular endurance but mainly speed. 2. To improve fitness levels so I can concentrate more on my techniques and skills without having to worry about whether I can endure a full practice session. 3. To improve the level of the standard of my performance and become more successful with my chosen sport 'football'. I will organise a set number of sessions over a period of time using the FITT principle (frequency, time,...show more content... Power will enable me to compete with greater success when trying to win the ball in a tackle and in the air. В· Power is the amount of work done per unit of time, so when we consider human movement is the product of strength and speed. В· The same work (strength) can be done in a shorter period of time (speed). Anaerobic and Aerobic Sessions When we reach our anaerobic threshold, it means that we are working so hard that we cannot get enough oxygen to our muscles quickly enough. Our muscles will have to get energy from the anaerobic energy system instead. Lactic acid will immediately start to build up. This causes pain, makes us tired and we will not be able to continue at the same intensity for very long. We will build up an oxygen debt and we will also use up our limited supplies of oxygen. Although aerobic fitness will not be the main aim of my fitness program, I will be improving it as my general fitness improves and should in turn help better my speed and activities like swimming will help my cardio–vascular fitness and has other advantages as it will improve my muscular endurance, flexibility and speed and improve circulation. Having a high anaerobic fitness level will help in my football because it means I will be able to keep going for longer when I have very little Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Reflection Paper On Exercise I am relatively active and usually work out for about 45 minutes five days a week. This is because I was just in fitness for life 1 and have gotten into the routine of working out. I haven't played any sports as of late, but in the summer time I go biking, hiking, and play tennis often. Winter is usually a less popular time for me to be exercising just because of how cold it is outside as I do prefer to be outside. Right now I am running outside and cycling at the gym. I like to work out outside whenever I can. I may run around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, or Lake of the Isles if it is nice outside. If it is too cold out I go cycling at the Brooklyn Center Community Center. Sometimes I work out with my friend Rachel, but she is quicker than me so it is harder to keep up. Other times I will bring my dog along for a run and that is usually fun. I am physically active five or six days in a typical week. I usually work out for around forty five minutes every session and I have found that it is a good amount of time. Exercise makes me feel very good, but only after the workout session. During, I feel as if I am exploding or dying. It can be very hard. Afterwards I usually feel very energetic and happy. This is an improvement from the usual slouchy feeling I have during a day I don't exercise on. I think the benefits to me from exercise are becoming fit, having my mood lifted, feeling more energised, and I tend to feel better rested. Fitness for life has definitely been a factor in influencing my activity level as it forced me to begin exercising regularly and recording it all. My parents have also encouraged me to be more active as it is winter and I don't do very many activities that make me move during the winter. My friends have also influenced my activity level by having me run with them, however, they are much faster than me. I think that I am at a great activity level right now and don't feel a need to increase it because at this point every new workout is a challenge. Having to work during the week keeps me from exercising because I only have forty five minutes between getting home from school and then going to work to do anything, and I'd prefer to just rest for that time as I would be on my feet for my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Importance of Physical Exercise Essay The Importance of Physical Exercise What is exercise? The actual definition of exercise is; to use repeatedly in order to strengthen or develop, but to make it simpler, exercise is doing programs and workouts to keep fit, for example, running, hiking, bicycling, and any active sport. Most Americans do little or no exercise during work or rest hours. Today there aren't many jobs requiring intensephysical activity. Instead of walking, people use automobiles or public transportation. Instead of being physically active, people usually watch TV in their free time. Some sports such as bowling, golf, and tennis (doubles) provide some exercise, but do not provide as much exercise as other more vigorous sports. Exercise is very important...show more content... This happens when a person exercises too hard for too long, this mostly happens to people that have been inactive for a while. In some situations, people have died while exercising. In these situations, most of the deaths have been by overexertion in people who have had heart problems. For people who are under the age of thirty, these heart conditions are usually from heart defect present at birth. For the people that are over the age of 40, the heart condition is usually coronary artery, which is the buildup of deposits of fats in the heart's blood vessels. A lot of these deaths have followed by warning signs such as chest pain, lightheartedness, fainting, and extreme breathlessness. These are symptoms that should not be ignored and medical attention should be advised immediately. Exercising too hard is not good for anyone, however, and is especially dangerous for out–of–shape, middle–aged and older people. It is very important for all people to follow a gradual and sound exercise program. If you are wondering how long it would take to be in shape, think about this; look at how long you have been out of shape and it will take about that much time to get back in shape if you exercise properly. With some of this information earlier stated, exercise seems pretty dangerous, but it's not very dangerous at all, you just need to be careful. No research studies have shown that physically active people are more likely to have sudden, fatal heart

  • 6. Exercise As A Healthy Lifestyle Dear Karen, I am addressing you about your interest in exercise as a supplemental component in leading a healthy lifestyle. Based on the results of your medical evaluations, I believe an exercise prescription is a viable option to help you reach your health and general fitness goals. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and think you have made an excellent choice to pursue exercise as a treatment option. I like to stress with my clients that, although the goal is to get you exercising on your own, I am here to teach and support you so that you are comfortable and confident that you are making decisions that will impact your health in a positive way. Although my services are science based and effective, it is crucial that you do not use them as a replacement for general medical care from your physician. Exercise is a significant component to health in many ways. In the United States, the leading causes of premature death are primarily diseases of the heart and circulatory systems. Diseases of utmost significance are coronary artery disease, stroke, type II diabetes, and cancer. More and more evidence suggests that the increase in deaths with each of these conditions is correlated with a decrease in the amount of exercise performed by the general population. The good news is that you have taken the first step toward reversing this trend and I can help you achieve success. Vast amounts of research suggest exercise can help mitigate your risk for cardiovascular Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Essay A very important and often overlooked activity in today's society is exercise. Exercise positively influences many aspects of life and people today are simply not incorporating it into their daily lives. What they don't understand is exercise is extremely beneficial to physical and mental health. With a healthy mind and body people can go about their day feeling healthier, having a better sense of body image, and can process thoughts more clearly and concisely. It is also a physiologically natural way of fighting off stressors. What people first think of when they think ofexercise is purely looking like a model and the fact that people will envy the way you look. While this may be true, and also may be an initial reason people are attracted to the gym, people who frequently work out quickly learn that exercise creates a euphoric feeling after the gym and it instantly hooks many people and keeps them coming back. Some people say exercise is like a drug. While this expression initially seems far–fetched, exercise has an impact on the brain that is very similar to drugs. What exercise and drugs both have in common is they release "feel–good" chemicals in the brain. The best feeling attainable from exercise kicks in as soon as you're walking out of the gym, it is an endorphin rush, which is an opioid produced by the body as a physiological response to gratify itself after coping with a stressor. This endorphin rush creates an addictive effect. People are always looking for ways Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay example Do you need some motivation to get off the couch and begin exercising? Maybe you have started to work out and then stopped your work out routine so many times that you cannot keep track of the number of programs you have tried. Well you are not alone. In fact, by statistics that would make you an average American. All the same, working out for the sake of health and well–being is becoming increasingly important as we continue to learn the effects of inactivity. There are many benefits that arrive from the presence of exercise in your daily routine. Improve strength, improved cardiovascular fitness, and an improved immune system are just three of the MANY benefits that come from exercise and activity. I will tell you a little bit more...show more content... The muscles demand more energy and oxygen due to the increased workload that comes from exercise. This causes the heart rate and respiratory rate to increase in order to provide the required additional fuel to the muscles. In addition, the entire circulatory system works more efficiently due to vascular dilation and cholesterol reduction. By improving the condition of your cardiovascular fitness you are also helping yourself live longer, decrease the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, strengthen your cardiovascular system, and the list goes on. These reasons alone could save you from having heart disease. Regular physical activity appears to improve the functioning of the immune system. Recent research suggests that people who exercise regularly come down with fewer colds and flues than their sedentary friends. Regular physical activity seems to strengthen the immune system so that it is better able to fight the foreign germs that make our bodies sick. Scientists still do not know exactly how exercise preserves immune our strength, so it is really too early to say what types or amounts of exercise maximize immune function. The evidence so far suggests that moderately vigorous exercise appears to be the most helpful. Further research has shown that during moderate exercise, several positive changes occur in the immune system. Various immune cells circulate through the body Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Reflection Paper On Exercise For the past 3 weeks, I have been working on improving my physical fitness by exercising at least 4 days a week, for 1 hour each time. Incorporating exercise regimen in my daily life has always been something that I wanted to do since I begin my life as a student here at UNC. It's has never been easy. Since I was a kid, I never had that natural thin, skinny physique. Everyone who saw me always said that, I will never be skin, my body showed signs of growing into a woman with a thick figure. I knew that It will take time and dedication for me to keep myself at a stable weight in order to stay healthy, and prevent any health complications in the future. When I lived in Africa, we had no car, so we walked everywhere we needed to go, which kept me in shape. Once we moved to the United states, I played soccer in high school, and walked home from school. But even though I walk on campus here in college, because I don't have a car, I realized that the amount of walks that I walk, is not enough compared to the amount of time I spend seating down in class. Over the years, I have gained so much weight. I always talk about working out toward getting skinnier and healthier, so that I can feel less tired, and feel better about myself, but starting the workout regimen and getting to the gym is entirely another thing. Being in school all day, then going home, it's hard for me to get out of the house to go to the gym, instead, I will end up staying in, and working on school work instead. Two hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information"). Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have different performance related requirements in accordance with their occupation but all people have the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types of exercise that helps tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood. An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person's requires both anaerobic and aerobic exercise for good health. Simply doing a cardio work out is not healthy, and for a person to see real results there must be some activity like weight lifting ("Anaerobic"). An average woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes) will lose more significant amount of weight than some one who does not exercise at all. But you have to understand that when you are exercising, you are also replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but I know I would be happy if I didn't lose weight and replaced my fat with muscle. Overweight but fit people generally have half of the death rate than people who are overweight and unfit. People who have trained for quite a long time develop more effective mechanisms for burning fat and are capable to remain leaner. • 14. Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Group The low heart rates from the exercise group and the high heart rates from the non–exercise group appeared as a result of both group's overall fitness level. In order to achieve said results, each individual's average heart rate was taken by feeling a pulse five times. They were then categorized in the exercise group or non–exercise group depending on whether or not they exercise for twenty minutes three times a week. There were no discrepancies in the data overall, since the results were as expected. Exercise influenced heart rate by lowering it with an inversely proportional relationship. Regular aerobic exercise is the kind of exercise that best influences heart rate and will cause heart rate to drop over time, meaning that your heart...show more content... The causes, prevention, and treatment of all forms of cardiovascular disease remain active fields of biomedical research, with hundreds of scientific studies being published on a weekly basis to this very day (Morris 1958). In order for a heart to be functioning properly, several physiological criteria must be met. The blood vessels to the heart need to be functioning normally. The electrical conduction system has to be working in a coordinated fashion for the blood to flow efficiently through the heart chambers. Also, all of the heart valves need to be working optimally so that blood can flow in the proper direction and in adequate amounts. Finally, the arterial and venous systems need to be able to constrict and dilate so that proper blood pressure is maintained and also so all of the cells of the body get an adequate blood flow (Anonymous C 2015). The exercise group for this experiment is the group that's more likely to have met all these requirements at a more satisfactory level than the non–exercise group, and therefore, are at less risk of cardiovascular diseases. Aerobic exercise breaks up stored fatty acids to provide more fuel to the heart (Levitt 2012). Without exercise, excess energy obtained from food for example, will be stored as fat which can lead to obesity. Nearly 70% of American adults are either overweight or obese. Being obese increases risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and more (American Heart Association B 2014). Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Exercise : Exercise And Exercise Essay We are all aware that exercise helps you physically. A big portion of us are ignorant to the fact that exercise can help you mentally as well. I say ignorant because well all know that exercise is physically helpful, but are unaware that it also helps us in our everyday thinking. Exercise helps us release stress, which helps us be calm and make wiser decisions without overthinking any situation. Many of us, or if not all of us, have experienced or are experiencing stress of some sort. Instead of crying and staying in bed having bad thoughts, you should go for a jog or even a walk will help. Keep in mind that exercise does not always have to be weights, gym. Neither does it have a time limit. What I mean is that you can do exercise for as little as twenty minutes, or as much as two hours or more. Anything that is physical is exercise. Therefore, you can use exercise as a "tool" to writing a very good paper. Exercise can help improve your writing because it will help you be more creative, and it will help you mentally. Although it is kind of difficult to realize that exercise helps you mentally, exercise will help you think outside the box. I do not mean it in the way that of you do not do exercise, you will not make decisions as smart as people who do exercise. What I mean is while doing exercise, you forget about the outside world, and you just focus on your workout. Also, even if you are just going for a walk and not working out, you are listening to music while you walk or Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Time management is a weakness that I still need to work on. I will be able to manage my time with studies and physical activities in college. At the beginning of the year, my goals were to lose pounds, and improve on exercises that I did not like, such as running and pushups. I improved on my running by running up a hill multiple times.
