Photosynthesis and respiration are two important biological processes. Photosynthesis uses energy from sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to produce glucose and oxygen. Respiration uses glucose and oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water and energy in the form of ATP that is used for cellular activities. The equations show that photosynthesis and respiration have the same reactants and products but occur in opposite directions, with one using light to produce glucose and the other using glucose to produce energy.
