Justice Jose P. Laurel served as president of the Philippines from October 1943 to August 1945 during the Japanese occupation. During his career he held several government positions including Undersecretary of Justice, Commissioner of Justice, Senator representing various provinces, and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. As president under Japanese occupation, he established an administrative government to restore order and address economic issues facing the country.
