Victor lied about knowing French to get closer to a girl named Teresa. He stayed after school to talk to her and learn French. Two best friends who were champion boxers did not want to fight each other in the final match but did so while training separately to avoid tension. They overcame this by leaving the ring still friends. A boy named Jonas received painful memories of the past and ran away from home with his brother to escape the pain, overcoming his conflict. All the characters found ways to overcome their adversities.

The conflict in the story was that two best friends were challenged in a
championship boxing match. The really didn’t want to fight each other , but
they did anyway. They practiced in separate rooms so there wouldn’t be any
tension.
