INTRODUCTION

Peropalo is the
puppet of
Villanueva de
laVera,the symbol
of the most
iportant festival in
la Vera.It is the time
for noise, anarchy
and music matched
with bands of
music, scruffy
clothings and
beautiful shawls
and skirts.
TYPICAL WOMAN DRESS
            Women dress as
            they please
            although most of
            them wear the
            traditional women
            garment of the
            region.
THE CALABACEROS   The “calabaceros”
                  are the “quintos”
                  of the last year,
                  they hit people
                  with sticks with
                  tied pumkins
There are rides
around the village   LAS RONDAS
the people go
playing drums and
walk with the
Capitanes”
There is a secular
       procession, the
       “Walk” in which part
       of the community,
       especially women
       dressed in beautiful
       regional dresses,
       accompany the
       captains. These walk
       protected by a group
       of ”albarraderos”.
       One man carries the
       flag of the event and
       the woman brings
       with her a thick
       bramble from which a
       “chorizo” (red
THE    sausage) is hanging,
       the simbol of the
RIDE   Peropalo´s genitals.
