Unit 1
 Unit1 focuses on the analysis, modification
and improvement of a product design with
consideration of the materials used and
issues of sustainability. Knowledge of tools,
processes, techniques and skills is essential
to effective product design. Students will
learn about intellectual property (IP) and its
importance and implications for the designer.

Unit 2
 InUnit 2 the student works both individually
and as a member of a small design team to
design and create a product, or range. They
will focus on factors including: human needs
and wants; function, purpose and context for
product design; aesthetics; materials and
sustainability; and the impact of these on a
design problem.
