#4 It has everything to do with our Brain’s Brilliance and its flaws
#5 Its our BRAIN’s most powerfultool to make sense of the busy World and streamline the Thousands of things a Day competing for our Time & Energy!
#6 Illusion: So did you happen to notice all the changes that took place since the scene began(all 8 of them)?
#7 A successful illusionist is able to draw your attention willingly to another location!!
While our attention was on the money the table changed to a stool. The illusionist got a new hat and a new hankerchief and the background changed as well.
#8 Our brain only allows us to focus on 1 thing at a time. So when it is doing one the another thing may also change. Attention is like mental currency. So the brain decides where exactly to spend it.
#9 At this very moment you may think that you are taking in all the things happening around you but that is not actually true. Our brains just run on about 12 watts of power, with such limited energy the brain begins to prioritize what is important. Working somewhat like a spotlight. A narrow beam providing you with a very detailed image
#10 These regions act as switching stations for signals from other areas throughout your brain allowing you to shift your attention from 1 thing to another.
#11 As a result of which we notice only the changes in those aspects that are within the spotlight of our attention. So when the change affects what we our seeing it likely that we will detect it.
#13 A image will be altered 5 times notice how many changes occur
Now lets try again(that was a bit harder isn’t it)
This is a test that shows how much of the world we miss at any given moment.
#15 Apollo’s show :just pay attention and take a note of the things that the Apollo steals from this man(so how Many did u count?)
#16 Apollo is manipulating the brains ability to focus
#17 1.Top down attention : decision making attention::just look at the door(done by the advanced prefrontal cortex)::carefully shifting our attention
2.Bottom Up attention : something grabbing our focus :: a phone ringing in the movie to be judged as of our own(thru primitive sensory corticies )::making us focus on something else
#18 A phenomenon which makes us miss the thing while we multitask (a reason as to why driving and hand held telephone talking is banned)
Failure to notice something that is not expected when we are focussed tightly on something else. So we miss the things that are in front of us but we are not looking for them
#19 can you read it? How: once the brain deciphers what is important fills in the blind spots with the thing that we expect to be there
#20 The dance test: count the number of times the dancers enter the spot light ? So how many times?? Did you notice the penguine? This is because our brains filter is large enough to make us miss a variety of events
#21 Say out the font colors aloud as quickly as possible :
#22 THE STROUP EFFECT BECAUSE of the interfering signals competing for your attention : TRY AGAIN
#23 But there are other ways as well, let me show you
#24 Colour is processed in the ventral stream while reading is performed in temporal and occipital lobes of the brain
#26 ITS BEEN AN INTERESTING RIDE APOLLO WILL NOW SHOW A STACK OF PICTURES can u tell which are the ones I showed to you and which are a mere distraction? Can you answer him?
