and 4.0am to 7.30am and one day midweek.
Career
August 2008 to 2012 – Constar International. Mechanical engineering apprentice (Days)
During the above dates I carried out my dual skill apprenticeship (electrical and mechanical
engineering) with day release to Kirklees college to studying both disciplines, applying the
underpinning knowledge of health and safety, electrical installation and testing, mechanical principles,
business management and other key skills. The time I have spent in the workplace I have worked with
and been mentored by qualified skilled engineers. I have performed tasks such as planned
preventative maintenance, fault finding, machinery improvements, project engineer and all types of
installations.
August 2012 to August 2014 – Constar International. Technical Operator (Continental shifts)
Due to lack of opportunities on the completion of my NVQ, at this placement there were no
engineering positions available but I was offered the position of a Technical Operator. During this time
I undertook self-directed learning to enhance my knowledge of dry offset and rotogravure offset
printing, injection moulding and vision system set-up to one of the highest standards in the factory. As
a skilled operator my duties included first line maintenance, both reactive and preventative. During
this role I was cross trained in disciplines such as injection moulding and high speed packing.
I have also achieved my counterbalance, Bendi fork truck and elevated platform license in this role.
August 2014 – Present day. Maintenance day engineer (Staggered days)
Recently I have been promoted back into the engineering department in a maintenance role. After an
initial 4 months training and refreshment period. (Health and safety/regulations/competency training).
I am now working alongside the engineering team carrying out PPM work, breakdown tasks, projects
and improvements, some individual and some supervised working to assist me with my training and
development. With the closure of the factory I have now also been promoted to stand alone shift
Technician.
Key experiences
 Worked with bulk material handling systems, from Silo’s, blower and vac units, to smaller
material handling systems such as blenders and hopper loaders (Maguire and Piovan)
 A good working knowledge of printing processes on closures/caps (Tampaprint and Kase)
from both an engineering and operative perspective.
 A basic understanding of the injection moulding process having working on 150 tonne to 600
tonne injection machines. (Huskys, Netstalls and Ferromatiks), again from both an
engineering and operative perspective.
 A basic knowledge of blow moulding machines and their ancillary equipment such as Chillers
and packing lines (Sidel, Mallis and ABB)
 An understanding of Health and safety regulations including electrical safety.
