Over 2800 people died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, with over 1000 still unidentified. Among the victims were 189 firefighters, 20 police officers, and other first responders. Crews removed over 1.6 million tons of steel and debris, piled 20 stories high, from Ground Zero. The lives lost on September 11, 2001 will always be remembered.
