Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is celebrated in the UK and other countries on the last day before Lent. It involves eating pancakes with syrup or lemon juice, as well as pancake races where runners must flip and catch pancakes in a pan as they race through the streets to cheers from crowds. Mardi Gras celebrations also take place around the world on Shrove Tuesday, especially in Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, Venice, and Sydney.
