Who are the guest speakers?
Bill Larkin, Jr. has held office in the New York State
Legislature for more than 34 years, and has served as
Senator of New York’s 39th State Senate District since
1990. After 23 years of active service in United States
Army, he retired in 1967 with the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel. He then became an Executive Assistant in the
New York State Senate. He has recently been appointed to
several Senate Standing Committees including the
Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs Committee.
Frank Skartados is Assemblyman of New York’s 104th
State Assembly District, and was elected to office in 2008
and 2012. After obtaining his Masters Degree in
International Studies, he interned at the United Nations and
later served as Chairman of the Health Department at New
York Military Academy. He founded and was president of
the Academy Street Business Association, which has
helped to revitalize the economy of Poughkeepsie, NY. His
work in the Mayor’s Promotion & Events Committee has
further promoted Poughkeepsie’s business environment.
Nick Valentine was Mayor of the City of Newburgh for 8
years until 2012 and also served as City Councilman for 4
years. A lifelong resident of Newburgh, he attended St.
Patrick’s High School and then graduated from the Fashion
Institute of Technology in 1970. He has owned Broadway
Tailors on 281 Broadway Street in Newburgh for over 45
years. As mayor, he was a board member in the Women &
Minority Loan Fund and other organizations in which he
worked to support new local businesses.
