Het intergetijdengebied loopt onder water bij hoogtij en ligt droog bij laagtij. Boven water duizenden vogels, onder water veel leven dat je niet ziet. Het is een ecosysteem van internationale betekenis met een rijkdom aan plant- en diersoorten. Het gebied is verwaarloosd, en de vraag is hoe te te herstellen. De Eemsmonding en de Dollard zijn troebel, de natuur is daar de verliezer. Duurzame visserij is een eis, maar weinig vissers weten hoe dat moet. Dit grootste natuurpark van Noordwest Europa ligt vóór Springtij. De uitkomsten van alle waddensessies komen samen op zaterdag. noorden van China, bij Mongolië.
Deze woestijn heeft een uniek kenmerk:
hij bevat duinen die niet verschuiven
en zelfs de hoogste ter Wereld zijn.
Het zand kleeft aan elkaar door het
vocht wat zich ophoopt in de
binnenkant, dat verklaard hun
weerstand tegen de erosie van de wind.

11. Het regent hooguit 40 mm per jaar,
wat niet bevorderend is voor het
water niveau in de meren.
Meren worden niet aangevuld door
de regen.
Het geheim is pas de laatste jaren
onthuld: het water komt
ondergronds uit het gebergte Qilian,
op ongeveer 350 kilometer daar
vandaan, door een grote rivier die
onder de woestijn doorloopt.

maar ouderen meren bevatten een hoger
zout gehalte.
De panorama’s vanaf deze duinen zijn
