The new SUSE Academic Program explained!Emiel Brok
As a leading open source company, SUSE supports schools, higher learning institutions and the academic community in getting free access to our extensive experience and knowledge.
Many IT-students still get trained in software stacks that are not the highest in demand by the labor market. In many cases IT-infrastructure classes are still dominated by proprietary software, but the dominating IT-infrastructure "in real life" nowadays is open source technology.
As SUSE delivers enterprise open source technology many schools have asked SUSE to come with a academic program. Now we are able to explain you most bits and bites of how we believe we can color schools and students green!
Soft skills for hard hackers!
How often do you ran into HR-people who only understand your technical certifications, and do not recognize your communicational skills? Just because you do not wear a tie doesn't mean you can't communicate with non-geeks.
You sure know your communication skills but how do you prove this? Emiel introduces a European certification model for soft skills. This model is already very popular in Austria and is now moving towards The Netherlands. He is very curious for your interest and ideas around the newest initiative. Behind this initiative you'll find the same people who represent the LPI certification in the Netherlands. Just as LPI Netherlands, this will be a non-profit community certification.
Will this initiative help you or will it be another useless paper? Emiel is open for all feedback. Come to the talk and discuss with Emiel about ECo-c. Check www.eco-c.eu <http: /> (at this moment only in German) for more info.

This is an overview that I created because many (potential) Linux professionals asked me to. This is created by me personal, not representing any organisation. if you disagree with information in it please contact me. I would really like to have this overview as up-to-date as possible.
Dit is de presentatie zoals ik die gegeven heb tijdens het kennisbevorderingstraject voor MBO ICT docenten. Dit is een activiteit van ECABO en Stichting Praktijkleren.
