Turn your old video and audio cassettes, slides, and photos into digital files using the media conversion station in MakerSpace at the Main Library.

2. » Do you have a pile of vinyl records, VHS
cassettes, vacation slides and mix tapes
left over from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s?

3. » Good news! Those
old memories and
rare recordings can
now be preserved
digitally with the
Library’s Media
Conversion Station
in the MakerSpace.

4. What you’ll
need to get
started

5. » Something on which to save
your new digital files. This can
be a recordable CD/DVD, a
flash drive, or even cloud
storage.

6. » If you don’t
have a flash
drive or blank
disc, you can
purchase
them from the
Library.

7. » You also might
want to bring
headphones or
earbuds if you plan
on converting
audio files while
listening to them.

8. » The media station converts in real
time, which means if you have a
30-minute record or a two-hour
videotape it will take the same
amount of time to digitally convert it.

10. »The ION Archive LP machine
accepts 33, 45, and 78 vinyl
record formats.

11. »The ION Tape Conversion
machine only takes VHS
tapes (sorry Betamax fans!)

12. » Camcorders, handheld recorders
and other devices that use
cassette tapes can be hooked up if
you still have the connector cord.

13. »The ION Tape Conversion
machine also takes standard
audiocassette tapes.

14. » The Epson
image
scanner can
convert
photographs
into digital
images.

15. » As well as slides and negatives.

17. » The Media Conversion Station can be
reserved for two hours at a time.
Customers are limited to one
reservation a day, but can make up to
six reservations six weeks in advance.

18. » To make a reservation online, go to
CincinnatiLibrary.org and select
“Reserve” under Station Reservations.

card number and Pin.
