4. PERIODIFICACIÓN
Cristóbal Keller (1638-1707) Filósofo alemán, representante
típico del eurocentrismo, hizo una división que comprende el
desarrollo de la humanidad a partir de la escritura hasta el s.
XVIII: Edad Antigua, Media y Moderna, posteriormente se agregó
a su cronología la llamada Edad Contemporánea.

5. En el siglo XIX, el desarrollo de las ciencias
sociales permitió ampliar la historia humana.
La historia previa a la escritura podía ser
estudiada a partir de las herramientas
humanas, de la tecnología. En este contexto,
el danés Christian Thomsen (1788-1865)
propuso el sistema de “Tres Edades” (Edad
de Piedra, de Bronce y de Hierro).
