The document introduces OpenST Mosaic, a consensus protocol that runs meta-blockchains in parallel on top of Ethereum to scale decentralized applications. Each meta-blockchain runs its own transactions off-chain while being secured by Ethereum. This allows the bulk of transactions to occur off the main Ethereum blockchain. OpenST Mosaic uses a proof-of-stake system where validators finalize transactions on meta-blockchains and periodically commit checkpoints to Ethereum for security. This architecture aims to enable billions of users and transactions across multiple decentralized applications.

Overview of blockchains, how cryptography works on blockchains and the difference between cryptocurrencies and tokens.
Hands-on introduction to blockchain technologies.
First, basic concepts as peer-to-peer networks, mining and distributed consens are introduced basd on the Bitcoin protocol. Next smart contracts are discussed for the Ethereum protocol and demonstrated using a local/private blockchain.
The session concludes with a live demo of the interaction of a Java based classical business application with a smart contract running in the Ethereum network.
The goal of the session is to provide a meaningful background of blockchain technologies in genral and to enable developers to start exploring Ethereum and smart contracts within a few hours.
The proposed development setup is oriented towards Java developers and contains Docker images for the Geth and TestRPC Ethereum clients that can be run locally. To access Ethereum from Java the web3j Java library is used. The business application that integrates with the smart contracts is built with the Eclipse Scout framework.

Taking Security Groups to Ludicrous Speed with OVS (OpenStack Summit 2015)Thomas Graf
Open vSwitch (OVS) has long been a critical component of the Neutron's reference implementation, offering reliable and flexible virtual switching for cloud environments.
Being an early adopter of the OVS technology, Neutron's reference implementation made some compromises to stay within the early, stable featureset OVS exposed. In particular, Security Groups (SG) have been so far implemented by leveraging hybrid Linux Bridging and IPTables, which come at a significant performance overhead. However, thanks to recent developments and ongoing improvements within the OVS community, we are now able to implement feature-complete security groups directly within OVS.
In this talk we will summarize the existing Security Groups implementation in Neutron and compare its performance with the Open vSwitch-only approach. We hope this analysis will form the foundation of future improvements to the Neutron Open vSwitch reference design.
In this session we will have a closer look at distributed ledger technology and its applications in the modern world.
We will discuss the essential components of a set of technologies that are typically referred to as "Blockchain"
and try to distill these components to their essential parts.
Secondly we will explore two main use-cases, cryptocurrencies like BitCoin, ZCash and GridCoin and smart contract platforms like Ethereum.
Our approach will be critical and technical, the goal of this workshop is to explore and discuss "the blockchain" in a practical and accurate way

Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

• OpenST Mosaic is a consensus protocol to run meta-blockchains on top of Ethereum.
