This document discusses how an organization develops creativity in young people through film and digital projects, with nearly 4,000 under 25s participating in 2014. It notes that genuine insights about how young people think and behave require activities that allow real-world choices to be documented. The consultation led to the creation of Rife magazine, an online magazine by and for young people covering Bristol culture. Rife had over 26,000 visits and 19,000 users in its first quarter, far exceeding the previous year's figures for a similar publication.
Young people aged 16 to 19 have competing priorities like part-time jobs and studying that constrain their time. They also have limited finances and public transport access, which creates challenges for engaging them and appealing as a "trendy" venue. Overcoming perceptions that archive or silent films are "boring" due to their slower pace or black and white format is also difficult. While digital access to films has increased, so has the volume of available content both legally and illegally online, making it a challenge to motivate young people to go to cinemas instead of watching at home.
Conversations About Cinema is a partnership between Watershed cinema in Bristol and Bristol University that screens films and facilitates discussions to promote audience engagement. It began in 2014 and has expanded its impact. For example, a screening of Au Revoir Les Enfants in 2015 had high attendance of 386 people over 6 sold-out screenings. ConvoCinema is now a larger project screening films on the theme of "Impact of Conflict" across multiple independent cinemas in the UK from January to July 2015, and facilitating discussions online and in person to capture the impact of these cultural film experiences. The project aims to strengthen regional film culture and audiences while sharing learnings with the film industry.
This document discusses making documentaries with teenagers. It outlines a long history of creative documentaries involving youth and describes two case studies in Belgium. The first case study from 2012 unsuccessfully had teenagers make portraits of classmates they did not know to try to create social links. It failed because cinema cannot replace real social interaction and empathy which requires getting to know subjects. The second successful 2014 case study involved teenagers documenting their school kitchen garden over four seasons, where they did most of the work themselves on a long-term project. The document concludes with discussing telling stories in documentaries.
This document outlines a plan to create a community focused on attracting young adults ages 18-30 to the EYE Film Institute Netherlands. Research showed this target group is interested in the building itself rather than cultural offerings. The plan involves building an online community and brand through social media, an online magazine, and events at EYE that make exhibitions more interactive and appeal to young culture fans through programming like dance and VR games. A team of 6 peers from various backgrounds will manage the community with support from a part-time community manager. The goal is to better engage and communicate with this target demographic in the Randstad region.

A brief presentation about the expanding landscape of aerial photography. Archaeologists around the world are now finding use in modern technology, using aerial drones as a means of complementing their traditional tools and carrying them into the future.
This document discusses strategies for engaging new audiences through pop-up events. It notes that negative information tends to be more memorable from presentations. It advocates starting small with pop-up events in non-traditional venues like festivals using a diversity of art forms. The key principles for successful pop-ups are to be imaginative, focus on collaborators, start small through word of mouth, have a unifying theme, and have fun.

Mexican families traditionally have clearly defined roles where the mother is the center of the home and fathers make major family decisions. Brothers are expected to defend sisters' honor while sisters emulate their mothers. MediaActive is working with young people aged 15-23 in rural Shropshire to explore non-mainstream cinema. Young programmers are learning about different film genres and ways to engage other young audiences. The program aims to connect youth to specialized film, teach about the film industry, and have youth become film programmers. It also considers how rural cinemas can attract younger crowds. Young programmer sessions operate as after school sessions or intensive workshops to have youth program and promote films to engage more people in specialized cinema. Events include film clip presentations, pop-up screenings in non-traditional venues, and filmmaking workshops to introduce audiences to world, documentary, and British cinema. The program found that youth are open to subtitles and
The document discusses moving from a traditional model of audience development focused on marketing individual authors/films, to a reader/viewer-centered model that aims to increase people's enjoyment and confidence in exploring various creative works. It suggests applying techniques used to promote reading, such as reader groups, profiles of readers/recommendations, and websites that match people's interests to new works, to the area of film in order to develop audiences in a similar way. The overarching question is whether this reader-centered approach can offer an effective model for audience development in cinemas.
Ben Sheehy talks about how drones are slowly moving into the sports world -- particularly football. Schools such as UCLA and Oregon State have already implemented using drones, giving them a birds-eye view of how every play unfolds. It allows coaches to closely evaluate quarterbacks and linemen, helping them improve techniques.

Covey says most people look for quick fixes. They see a big success and want to know how he did it, believing (and hoping) they can do the same following a quick bullet list.
But real change, the author says, comes not from the outside in, but from the inside out. And the most fundamental way of changing yourself is through a paradigm shift.

The first three habits indeed deal with yourself because it all starts with you. The first three habits move you from dependence from the world to the independence of making your own world.
Habits 4, 5 and 6 are about people and relationships. The will move you from independence to interdependence. Such, cooperating to achieve more than you could have by yourself.
