OpenStack meets TV Everywhere: Peanut Butter and Chocolate by Yuval Fisher of...ETCenter
OpenStack is in the process of revolutionizing video delivery through virtualization, software defined networking and storage abstraction. OpenStack’s ability to rapidly deploy video ecosystems and dynamically scale them based on resource requirements is enabling service providers to offer new services faster, more robustly, and at lower cost. We’ll review TV Everywhere cloud deployment requirements and why the marriage of TV Everywhere and OpenStack is so compelling.

Turkcell TV Platform journey from ground zero up to Cloud Native with Spring ...VMware Tanzu
SpringOne Platform 2017
Erdem Günay, Turkcell
"In this session, the journey of re-platforming Turkcell TV service from ground zero to Cloud Native within a few months will be shared.
The motivation for re-platforming was mainly to shorten very long time-to-market durations, to minimise the high costs of adding new features or even changing very simple features on the existing platform and eventually improve the end user happiness.
However, the challenges were all surrounding us. The very first challenge was to keep the existing platform doing its own work but shifting the ownership of control to the new platform while 2 Million users were already actively using the service and without moving a single leave.
We will demonstrate how Spring Boot and Spring Cloud has helped us to start from ground zero and build the platform within only 4 months, applying test driven development, managing the integration of diverse monster legacy services, generating automatically beautiful but more importantly synchronised-with-code REST API documentation from tests, handling unexpected cases smoothly without affecting the end user, and enjoying our time while generating all these values.
We could not achieve this so quickly and at this level of quality without the following tools:
Spring Boot
Spring Boot Actuator
Spring Boot Devtools
Spring Boot Test
Spring Security
Spring Data JPA & Redis
Spring Web REST
Spring Web Services
Spring Cloud Config
Spring Cloud Stream
Spring Cloud Eureka
Spring Cloud Hystrix
Spring Cloud Zipkin
Spring Cloud Feign
Spring Cloud Contract
Spring Cloud potential projects
And many other open source libraries and software like RabbitMQ, Redis, ELK stack, etc."

How to build an effective IoT demo with OSGi - Derek Baum & Walt Bowersmfrancis
OSGi Community Event 2016 Presentation by Derek Baum (Paremus) & Walt Bowers (Eurotech)
Physical IoT devices are more exciting than any software user interface and should be central to any demo. Initially attracted by the IoT device, visitors’ are naturally receptive to learn more about the software platform and/or products controlling the solution.
This is why the OSGi Alliance based their IoT demo on a LEGO® train. OSGi and the OSGi enRoute platform had no existing integrations for Lego® trains, but provided a great base for IoT development. The demo showcases how the OSGi ecosystem of open source and commercial products can be used together to build a compelling IoT solution.
This talk reviews the end to end architecture used to deliver the demo and describes how the custom actuators and sensors needed to operate the LEGO® train were constructed and controlled. It also explains the issues encountered and how they were resolved. It then describes how the demo has been evolved for this conference.
The OSGi IoT demo is on display in the exhibition area. Please visit the demo and try it out for yourself.
James Turnbull, VP of Tech Operations at Puppetlabs, started off the day with a very interesting and informative talk about the past, current and future of Puppet. He showed they have a strong link to their community and plan to keep it that way. He explained that they grew from very small to 70+ people over the last year, and that brings some issues with it. They are very dedicated to fixing those issues though, and hope to improve things moving towards the future.
Walter Heck, founder of OlinData, presented a step-by-step guide on how to set up a proper puppet repository, complete with the brand new PuppetDB, exported resources and usage of open source modules.
PuppetCamp SEA 1 - Puppet Deployment at OnAppOlinData
Wai Keen Woon, CTO CDN Division OnApp Malaysia, gave an interesting overview of what the Puppet architecture at OnApp looks like. The CDN division at OnApp is a large provider of CDN services, and as such makes a very interesting candidate for a case study.
PuppetCamp SEA 1 - Version Control with PuppetOlinData
Choon Ming Goh, System Administrator at OnApp Malaysia, gave a presentation on how OnApp implements version control. Since they have quite a few repositories, this is all puppetised and that is quite a nice way of doing version control.
PuppetCamp SEA 1 - Using Vagrant, Puppet, Testing & HadoopOlinData
Dennis Matotek, Technical Lead Platforms at Experian Hitwise Australia, gave an excellent presentation on setting up puppet using vagrant, puppet and testing, including a full demo of rspec-puppet and Jenkins.
Edward Tan gave a great presentation (slides in vim!) on using puppet on FreeBSD. He introduced FreeBSD and showed us how puppet interacts with the system.

In this keynote, we will talk about how to transform from virtualization to full-scale cloudification and in Huawei’s view how OPNFV can develop into a full-scale cloud platform. We will explain this in five aspects: 1) cloudification of the software architecture; 2) cloudification of the networks; 3) cloudification of the network operations; 4) cloudification of the VNFs; 5) NFVI platform cloudification. Then a summarization of Huawei’s contribution in OPNFV is provided including code authors, labs, key roles, projects, code commits, etc. In the end, we will also briefly introduce our demos in this summit and welcome everyone to our booth.
