As Olivia’s direct supervisor during her Virtual internship with Generation Generous in the
summer of 2016, I met with her through Skype frequently to assign responsibilities. I was
impressed with Olivia’s writing skills, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines. As an intern in
our Procurement Department, Olivia had a number of responsibilities. She had to grow and
develop the existing global supplier database through direct email contact, phone, and Skype
meetings with suppliers around the world, plan the procurement of real samples and
swatches from suppliers as well as ensuring the fair & ethical operations of every partner.
Olivia was especially skilled at seeking out new suppliers on online journals and blogs, and
most importantly to initiate and build new business relationships with them! It’s clear that
Olivia has a passion for good, fair and sustainable business and a great eye for promising
new business partners. As a French and Business Studies major at University of Liverpool,
Olivia brought a rich knowledge of business acumen and organization and her knowledge of
French also helped in communicating with suppliers.
She is also very skilled in excel spreadsheets and has great presentation skills. She
performed very well when her task was to communicate with prospective clients she prepared
a database of more than 100 suppliers and clients during the course of her 3 -month
internship. After just a week or two in the virtual office, furthermore, Olivia was working
independently on database building, direct supplier contacts and other projects. She’s self-
motivated, attentive to detail, and skilled at both independent and collaborative work. Beyond
her buying and procurement skills, Olivia left a mark with her open, thoughtful personality.
