Ohio State football has many long-standing traditions dating back over 100 years, including the Skull Session pre-game pep rally in the basketball arena, planting a Buckeye tree for each All-American, and giving players gold pants for beating rival Michigan. The Ohio State marching band is also a great tradition, known for scripting "Ohio" on the field and having only brass instruments. Beating Michigan and winning the Big Ten are important annual goals for the Ohio State football team and its many devoted fans.
