OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY
COLLEGE MARKETING TOOLS
Opening Date: December 9, 2016 (Wide)
Rating: TBD
Running Time: TBD
Website: http://www.officechristmasparty.com
Hashtag: #OfficeChristmasParty
Synopsis: In “Office Christmas Party,” a comedy from Guymon Casady and Will Speck
(directors of “Blades of Glory” and “The Switch”), branch manager Josh (Jason
Bateman,“Horrible Bosses, TV’s “Arrested Development”) finds himself in a
tight spot when his CEO sister threatens to shut down his branch. In order to land
a big client and save the day, Josh throws an epic Christmas party at the office,
but the party gets way out of hand…
Overview: OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY is a wildly risqué comedy tying together the two
relatable themes of workplace antics and Christmas craziness. Be creative with
the marketing for this film; highlight not only the well-loved talent but also the
awkward, outrageous, bizarre, and hilarious characters/plot elements it has to
offer!
It’s important that we distinguish this film from the subgenre of “out-of-control
party movies” by emphasizing the smart and fresh entertainment created by the
good-looking, funny cast. We are trying to engage a college and post-college
professional audience, so we should push the relatability of the characters and
storyline.
Overall, have FUN with this film! Features and stunts can be as goofy as the
characters in OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY. We challenge you to create an
exciting and fun promotional campaign in your markets rounded out with great
publicity coverage!
PUBLICITY
 REQUIRED: Print, TV, Online and Radio - Work with your college paper/magazine, TV or
radio station and online outlets to secure AT LEAST one feature as well as a calendar listing.
Ideas as follows:
o MANDATORY: Calendar Listings/Coming Attraction - Include the film’s release
date, along with other important dates for OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY events in your
markets, to push winter inclusion. Provide outlets with a synopsis, trailer link, and/or
photos from the preview kit.
o Talent Features – This film has an extensive, recognized cast list known for their
humor! Because many of them are household names for college students, it is highly
recommended that talent features are pushed for college publications and other college-
directed outlets. Encourage features on Jason Bateman,Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Munn,
Kate McKinnon, T.J. Miller, etc. highlighting their careers and roles in OCP. Pay
attention to talent hometowns, as pitching a feature on them to their alma mater’s
newspaper (e.g. Randall Park to The Daily Bruin – UCLA) could be fun and interesting.
o Epic Christmas Feature – For the weeks leading up to release, encourage popular
college bloggers and/or film clubs to upload #EpicChristmas photos (showing why this
Christmas will be the best yet) along with #OfficeChristmasParty!
o College Conference Call – College conference calls with all available talent can be set!
Contact college publications early about possible inclusion in conference calls.
o College Radio/TV – Encourage your outlets to play the trailer/clips from the movie to
get listeners excited for OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY! Radio/TV hosts can loop in
talent features and talk about the movie’s themes. Discuss the possibility of partnering for
a radio contest (call-in or otherwise) to win screening passes!
SCREENINGS
OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTYCollege Screenings
 College-specific screenings can be held on campus in reasonable sized theatres or public theatres
near campus! Because of this film’s demo, these can be great promotional opportunities.

PROMOTIONS
All promotions should be as playful and epic as the film itself! We should place emphasis on the hilarious
cast and the outrageousness of the plot itself whenever possible. The concept of “awkward office party” is
a familiar one, but the crazy, funny, sexy elements of OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY put this office
party in a league of its own.

Promotional Ideas:
 REQUIRED: Throw an Ugly Sweater Party at a bar, event venue, or fraternity/sorority in your

comedic success (you can even set up a runway for contestants to model their looks) and will
receive a grand prize of screening passes and/or items provided by promotional partners.
 REQUIRED: Epic Christmas Instagram Contest – Have entrants post a picture of themselves
getting in the Christmas spirit (e.g. putting up a tree, wearing a Santa hat in a cool place, or
attending a themed party with friends). Encourage them to use #EpicChristmas as well as
#OfficeChristmasParty! Photos with the most likes will win Office Christmas Party prize packs.
 REQUIRED: Pitch a piece on “What Not to Do at Work” to a college publication, tying in the
movie! Our characters are committing some serious workplace faux pas in this film, and college
students who are gearing up to enter the professional world need to know better. Encourage your
writers to connect their tips/hints (however serious or goofy) to the movie and provide the title
treatment, a link to the trailer, press kit photos, etc.
 Create your own “Elf Yourself” Challenge! Approach college press,fraternities/sororities or
other outlets (e.g. HerCampus,Spoon University) to host a challenge for funniest “Elf Yourself”
clip (http://www.elfyourself.com) created by a group of friends or team. The best entry via
Facebook or other decided platform will receive screening passes for everyone featured in the
clip!
 Partner with an ice rink near campus to host an “Office Night Out” – encouraging
students/young professionals to take a break from their hard work and enjoy! Perhaps create
special OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY discounts for parties of 8 or more who can show
student/professional ID. Participants can receive promo items and screening passes!
 Basketball/Dodgeball Tournament – Set up OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY basketball and/or
dodgeball events! Consider talking to the department of intramural sports at a college to make it
happen. Winners to receive screening passes, promo items, and gift cards from participating bars!
For additional ideas/inspiration, please review the mainstream directives for OFFICE
CHRISTMAS PARTY.
