Oconee County reported the third highest number of violent crimes in 2010 of the 22 counties in Georgia with populations between 25,000-35,000, with 99 reported violent crimes. Oconee County also reported the fourth highest number of property crimes in this population range during this year, with 531 property crimes reported. Violent crimes included murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, while property crimes consisted of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Only Madison, Haralson, and Lumpkin counties had more violent crimes, while Madison, Stephens, and Jones counties reported higher property crime numbers.
