The document discusses the founding of OCAL Global, an initiative that aims to challenge beliefs about disability. The founder was inspired after seeing physically disabled athletes climb Kilimanjaro, realizing that disability is a myth and people have different abilities. OCAL Global's vision is to encourage viewing people as differently abled rather than disabled and spark individuality. It summarizes past and planned initiatives like the 2016 journey from Cape Town to Pretoria to raise awareness and funds. It provides details on sponsorship opportunities for the 2017 journey to support two individuals and change perceptions.

The SPLM/SPLA (In Opposition) press release summarizes the lack of political will exhibited by the SPLM/SPLA (In Government) that led to the collapse of the peace process and resumption of armed conflict in South Sudan. Key points include: negotiations started in 2014 but the government violated ceasefire agreements and spread the conflict; the president refused to fully sign or implement the peace agreement; security arrangements required demilitarizing Juba but this was not done; and violence erupted at checkpoints in July 2016, culminating in attacks at the State House and on the opposition forces' cantonment areas, forcing the vice president out of Juba.

Latest edition of the move more metro (National Centre For Sports and Exercise Medicine) featuring physical activity including in workplaces across Sheffield.
No Elevators Day is an open activation event organised by the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA), a global umbrella association for organisations working within the field of sport for all, recreational sports and physical activity. Established in 1995, ISCA works with almost 290 member organisations, international NGOs and public and private stakeholders to create a network of physical activity promoters and specific actions that get citizens moving. With over 40 million individual members from 89 countries on five continents, ISCA’s members represent a diverse group of people active within grassroots sport, youth and cultural activities.
In 2012, ISCA launched the NowWeMOVE campaign with an overall objective to raise awareness of the benefits of sport and physical activity among citizens, to promote opportunities to be active, and to enable sustainable and innovative capacity building for providers of physical activity initiatives. Its activities have helped millions of people to “find their move”.
No Elevators Day is a worldwide event that shares how people use the stairs instead of elevators and escalators as a fun and healthy way to add some physical activity to their day.
We invite you to celebrate No Elevators Day with us and we encourage you to think of the stairs as an appealing, fun and useful tool to #FindYourMOVE and join us to spread the word and invite people to share their ideas on how to #UseTheStairs.
So, how you can join in on the last Wednesday of April?
It’s easy! Simply use the stairs to #FindYourMOVE and share your moves with us in pictures and/or videos with the two campaign hashtags #UseTheStairs and #NoElevatorsDay.
The Action Guide will help you to plan and promote your #NoElevatorsDay event.
Be a role model and demonstrate that being physically active is as easy as taking the stairs, and encourage people to join in.
Scouting offers young people opportunities to learn leadership skills and values through fun activities and programmes to become active citizens. This document discusses various ways that Scouts around the world are making a positive impact in their communities through initiatives focused on issues like food scarcity, creating better learning environments, promoting peace and saying no to xenophobia. The overall message is that Scouts globally are working to establish peace and make a difference through community service projects.
2. a global Initiative by
background
“The vision, dream and journey behind the founding of OCAL GLOBAL all
started with a burning desire and passion and my ultimate mission would be to
challenge a global believe system regarding disability. Going up Kilimanjaro as
project manager of a team of physically disabled athletes, including the world’s
first triple amputee made it as clear as daylight that THERE IS NO SUCH
THING AS DISABILITY!
Seeing them conquer things that made me, a perfectly abled person back down
and feel uncomfortable made me realise that WE ARE ALL in some way or
another disabled, be it emotionally, physically or mentally. It was at that precise
moment that the idea was born, I wanted to do all I could to prove to the world
and change the mind-set, THAT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS DISABILITY
ONLY DIFFERENTLY ABLED INDIVIDUALS!”
Nicolene Mostert - Founder, OCAL Global

Mission & vision
Challenging assumptions means questioning the everyday things you take for granted.
“The best assumption to have is that any commonly held belief is wrong.”
At OCAL Global we focus on everyone’s unique ability to contribute, rather than a person’s perceived
limitations. By embracing differences, we help spark individuality — while challenging assumptions and
inspiring change, thereby creating greater value by focusing on people’s unique abilities.
To change the notion from one of disability to ability and encourage use of the phrase, Differently Abled
persons in place of people with disabilities. Our motive for using the phrase is to foster thoughts, feelings
and actions about disability in a more inclusive and positive way.
Our vision is to create individuals of integrity, accountability, transparency and creativity. We want to
redefine the functions of hands, heart and head of an individual by giving it creative direction and meaningful
dimension to life. We want to sublimate the human energy and crystallize the total human being.

OCAL 2016 - Journey for change
On the 28th April 2016, a team of 9 ordinary runners, 2 hand cyclists and an
amputee began a non-stop 24 hour, epic 10 day journey from CAPE TOWN to
PRETORIA, culminating in the WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN on the 8th May
2016, the launch and first of OCAL GLOBAL’s annual initiatives.
This incredible challenge was not only to raise awareness but also funds to assist
2 individuals who have suffered spinal cord injuries and provide them with the
necessary resources and providing them each with a hand cycle and in so taking
them on board as the core team members of the 2017 journey.
By doing this we will not only be facilitating their recovery but also showing them
that they can still have a life filled with adventure and purpose even in their now
differently abled bodies.

#OCAL2017 - Route Recce
Together with our 2 beneficiaries Sandile Nathan Mkhize and Mduduzi Nhlebela we
plan to do the recce of the #OCAL2017 Journey For Change in August 2016. The
idea behind the recce is also to get their coach, Jeffery Yates (#OCAL2016 member),
a hand cyclist to mentor and reminisce about his experience of the journey and
share insights and in part his extensive knowledge, and they will get to see what lies
ahead in this incredible challenge. This will be the first time that they will get to try
out their new hand cycles and experience what it will be like as core members of the
#OCAL2017 Journey For Change.
We will be capturing these epic moments during the recce in order to create our
‘teazer’ to be aired at the #OCAL2017 Journey For Change Black Tie Gala event in
September, during which, we will be screening our #OCAL2016 Journey For Change
documentary, directed, filmed, edited and produced by critically acclaimed Paul Ward,
the announcement of the #OCAL2017 team and route reveal – all this being part of
the ‘ROAD TO #OCAL2017’.

22. a global Initiative by
sandile Nathan Mkhize - Hand cyclist
My life changed on the 26th January 2013. I was on my way to Witbank to have breakfast
with a couple of mates but I never reached my destination. I was involved in a freak
motorcycle accident where I lost control while taking a corner. I woke up days later and I
instantly knew my life would be different. I spent 2 and a half years between ICU, high care
and rehab facilities. I have had over 20 re-constructive surgeries and will probably need more.
My dream right now is to make South Africa accessible for wheelchair users, shed light on
spaces that are not accessible and to change the perception that differently abled individuals
are limited to the welfare and health care framework of society. Differently abled individuals
can do anything an abled bodied person can do, we only do it differently.
On top of my list is to be a motivational speaker and a life coach to help people realize that
their potential is truly limited only by their imagination. Determination and creativity can solve
any problem that life throws at us and I would like to be living proof of this.
It is very poetic when I say “I want to change the world”, but I truly mean this. The starting
point is changing one person’s life at a time.
