Objective: Students in this course will be asked to visit a history museum/history memorial in their community. Students will prepare a 2 to 4 page summary of the visit. Students will email the Action Research Project paper to me via Turn-It-In. Maximum point value: 20 points Action Research Project: Historic Visit in North Texas to a Historical Museum/Memorial Directions: You are to visit one of the historic museums/memorials listed below and type a 2 to 4 page report about the museum. If a historic museum is not in your area and/or if you are planning to visit another museum, you must email the instructor for an exception. You must include in your paper your personal assessment about the visit and answer the following questions: Why did you choose this location? What is the museum’s history? Falk Meets Online Motivation: A Nationwide Survey Project
In this lightning talk we present a nationwide online Visitor Motivation Study conducted across two dozen institutional websites in 2015/16.
Based on research by John Falk, we used his predictive model of visitor experience outlined in the book as the framework for our survey. In Falk's book "Identity and the Museum Visitor Experience," he identifies five key types of visitors who attend museums and the internal motivations that drive repeat visitation: Experience Seeker; Explorer; Socializer; Recharger; Hobbyist / Professional.
The technical implementation is similar to the one used in a website visitor motivation survey by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. That survey was presented at MW in 2012.
Our project includes simultaneous surveys on 24 museum websites, pairing an IMA-style Google Analytics-powered backend with segments adapted from Falk’s motivation framework. Since the IMA’s presentation at MW 2012, studies following IMA’s methodology have been reproduced at various institutions. Our work is distinct in that it looks at the data in aggregate. Seeking to identify patterns or trends across the sector, we hope to understand the similarities and differences in our audience segments by region, population density, etc, and test Falk’s research as it applies to online audiences.

, Professor Ronald Takaki challenges the Master Narrative of American History, the “powerful and popular but inaccurate story” declaring that “our country was settled by European immigrants, and Americans are white.” In his work, Professor Takaki highlighted the hopes and struggles of immigrant men and women working and living in America, dispelling the many negative stereotypes marginalized as the “Other.”
Objective:
The goal of this assignment is to identify how the official history is represented in repositories of human civilization, spaces that are also known as museums. Pay particular attention to the spatial management of the exhibit, the order in which the artifacts are displayed, and how they present the participation of certain groups of individuals in the official history. Your paper should be typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman size 12.

As you begin to write your paper, please reflect on what you observed in the exhibit and compose a 4-6-page paper that summarizes, critiques and applies the exhibit to the overarching theme of the course, the Master Narrative of American History. Does the exhibit challenge this notion, or does it affirm it? Further, please address the following questions in your essay.
Primary theme and subthemes of the exhibit: What information is the exhibit attempting to convey? What kind of story is being presented?
How was the use of space representative of the exhibit?
What is so particular about the order of the artifacts being displayed?
How are historically disadvantaged groups represented in the exhibit?
How are identities, i. e., ethnicity, gender, sexuality addressed in the exhibit?
How is the exhibit presenting these different intersections, if at all?
Multimedia tools: are there any videos/films, digitalized diagrams, maps, computer
kiosks incorporated into the exhibit?
If you had the opportunity to talk to the curator of the exhibit, what questions would

Visit a museum or gallery listed below and write an in-depth visual analysis of a single work of art on display. The work of art can be any media: painting, drawing, photograph, installation, sculpture, fibers, fashion, video installation, etc. The essay is intended to be a visual and conceptual analysis based on your own observations, utilizing vocabulary words learned in class.
Historical research is not part of this assignment
but you may glean information presented on the gallery label if it contributes to your appreciation of the work of art. Be sure to credit the source for your information, such as the label or information given by a docent. You may not, however, regurgitate the information on the label, as the essay is to consist of your own, personal analysis. This essay is not a formal research paper, but rather an indication that the material presented in class has enabled you to effectively critique a work of art based on the principles of design, the background of art history, and your own opinion of what constitutes a successful (or unsuccessful) work of art. There is no universal agreed-upon definition of terrorism. Terrorism means different things to different people, governments, and organizations based upon context.
Write a 2-4-page paper in which you do the following:
Summarize, with citations, at least four different definitions of terrorism.
Note
: The definitions must come from sources such as U.S. government agencies (e.g., FBI, DOJ, CIA, DOD, DHS, DOS, DIA, NSA, etc.), international agencies and / or foreign governments (e.g. United Nations, England, Israel, etc.), or terrorism experts (e.g. Bruce Hoffman, Walter Laqueur, Brian Jenkins, Paul Pillar, etc.).
Compare and contrast two of the four definitions summarized in Question 1. Provide a rationale for the differences between the two definitions based upon the context of the people, governments, and / or organizations that developed the definition.
Select one of the four chosen definitions of terrorism that you believe most accurately defines terrorism. Recommend at least one change or enhancement that you would make to the definition. Provide a rationale for your response.

The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
