Joseph Kemp, a 21-year-old resident of Queensbridge Houses public housing, has been appointed as a member of the New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) Public Safety Advisory Committee. As a representative of public housing youth, Kemp will help develop NYCHA's NextGen Public Safety Blueprint over the next year to address crime, community engagement, emergency response, and quality of life issues. Kemp is a rising senior at John Jay College pursuing degrees in philosophy and writing, maintains a Dean's List status, and has received several scholarships including from NYCHA-CUNY. He serves on his college's Judicial Board and volunteers with student organizations and New York Cares to give back to his community.
