2. Invitation to the career fair
The faculty of Law from the Potchefstroom
campus had invited us to their career fair
that they were hosting on the 12th of May
2016. The main reason for the invitation
was to get information from different law
firms and also for students to gain
knowledge on how to apply for bursaries
and vocational jobs.
3. Transport…
Webber Wentzel sponsored by
paying for one 65 seater bus for us to
travel to Potchefstroom. They paid R5
678.00, the amount was paid directly
to the company. The bus company we
used was Small Bird Bus Express.
4. Venue
The career fair was held in the Law
Faculty building (Building F5).
The seminar was held in the Mootcourt
room, also in Building F5.

Prosecutor’s perspective.
7. The stalls
There were different law firms from across
the country that were present to represent
themselves and shed light on graduate
programmes that they offer and to answer
to any questions that the students had to
ask. Norton Rose Fulbright, Adams &
Adams, Webber Wentzel, Cliff Dekker
Hofmeyr and Bowman Gilfillan were
amongst the law firms that were present at
the career fair.
Associations such as the Black Lawyers
Association (BLA) were present to inform
the students at large about their
association, how they are affiliated with
the North West University, How to join and
benefits of joining the BLA.
8. Conclusion
The LSCV would like to applaud the SLCP
and Faculty of Law for the outstanding
work in hosting this event. The career fair
was a big success, it was very insightful,
and we have learnt a lot from the
speakers that shared their perspectives in
the seminar room. The stalls were well set
up, we also acquired more information
regarding graduate programmes that the
law firms were offering. The interaction
with the Law Student Council’s from the
other campuses was also insightful as we
shared different views and ideas on how
to run the Law Council and how to
maintain the standards of the Law Council
in our campuses.
