Nursing education is my area of advance practice nursing. With this in mind, the nursing theory chosen for this discussion topic is Benner’s From Novice to Expert. Butts and Rich (2015) states Benner “distinguishes five levels of nursing practice 1) novice, 2) advance beginner, 3) competent, 4) proficient, and 5) expert” (p. 474). Nurses graduate from nursing school as a novice and do not become experts until practicing for several years. The nontraditional student entering college is between the ages of 25 and 45 (Genco, 2007). This puts the students in the Levinson early adulthood stage with an increasing amount experiencing the midlife transition (40 to 45-years-old). During this time many life activities are occurring such as marriage, raising a family and working to provide for the family (Dewey, 2007). Non-traditional students now need to divide a 24-hour day into time to attend class, study, do homework, a job, and family issues. As instructors, we need to understand and adapt the curriculum to encompass all these factors as well remembering that we have traditional (students coming straight out of high school) in the same program. Combining the theories of Benner and Dewey assists the nurse educator in meeting the educational needs of the student. The classroom today is diverse not only culturally but also in the age demographics of the students. Throw into this the explosion of technology in society and healthcare and educators have novices not only in healthcare but also in technology. URSING STUDENTS HAVE A V IS ION OF HOW
THEY EXPECT TO BE AS PROFESSIONAL NURSES.
Entering students will often express the desire to take care of peo-
ple, helping them get well or, at the least, feel better. The develop-
ment of professional identity is a continuous process that begins
with admission to the nursing program and evolves throughout one’s
professional career in a dynamic and fluid process where interact-
ing relationships of education and practice lead to self-reflection,
growth, and human flourishing. The process must be consistent with
the profession’s history, goals, and codes of ethics while “distin-
guish[ing] the practice of nurses from that of other health care
providers” (National League for Nursing [NLN], 2010, p. 68).
Professional identity involves the internalization of seven core
values integrated throughout the NLN’s Education Competencies
Model and applicable to all types of nursing education programs.
“These…values become self-evident as the nurse learns, gains
experience, and grows in the profession” (NLN, 2010, p. 68). They
are reflected in the practice setting in thinking, actions, and behav-
iors and how the nurse treats co-workers and patients. The nurse is
expected to demonstrate professionalism and a dedication to the
values, knowledge, skills, and ethical comportment that is nursing
(Sullivan, 2005).
Nursing education involves learning a body of knowledge foun-
dational to nursing practice, but knowledge alone is not sufficient.
Through educational programs and learning opportunities, nursing
students come to know and understand the core values and beliefs
of the profession as well as the context of professional practice.
Increasingly competent and confident in the mores of the profes-
sion, nursing students and graduates must internalize the core val-
ues that emphasize a culture of excellence, caring, and integrity
with diversity, holism, patient-centeredness, and ethical practice
valued and applied in practice. Nurse educators and clinicians in
clinical settings serve as critical role models for students as they
gradually assimilate the roles of professional nursing practice.

the change that occurs between the lay person and a nurse “pre-
pared to respond with respect and skill to people who are vulnera-
ble or suffering…occurs in every aspect of a nursing student’s edu-

ences and how they might improve on their day’s practice” is criti-
cal to the nursing student’s learning (Benner et al., p. 167).

Each part of the United States has at least one ecological crisis based on location, biome, and industrialization pattern. For example, the Midwest was once a prairie with very fertile soil. However, when people realized that with the right watering and drainage system this area could become productive farmland, there arose ecological problems. The conversion of the prairie to farmland is the root cause of many ecological problems in this region.
Regardless of what biome you consider, humans have likely had an impact on the ecology of that area.

There is no universal agreed-upon definition of terrorism. Terrorism means different things to different people, governments, and organizations based upon context.
Write a 2-4-page paper in which you do the following:
Summarize, with citations, at least four different definitions of terrorism.
Note
: The definitions must come from sources such as U.S. government agencies (e.g., FBI, DOJ, CIA, DOD, DHS, DOS, DIA, NSA, etc.), international agencies and / or foreign governments (e.g. United Nations, England, Israel, etc.), or terrorism experts (e.g. Bruce Hoffman, Walter Laqueur, Brian Jenkins, Paul Pillar, etc.).
Compare and contrast two of the four definitions summarized in Question 1. Provide a rationale for the differences between the two definitions based upon the context of the people, governments, and / or organizations that developed the definition.
Select one of the four chosen definitions of terrorism that you believe most accurately defines terrorism. Recommend at least one change or enhancement that you would make to the definition. Provide a rationale for your response.
Create your own personal comprehensive definition of terrorism. Identify the key criteria inherent in your personal definition, and explain their importance.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 1. Nursing education is my area of advance practice nursing. With this in mind, the nursing theory chosen for this discussion topic is Benner’s From Novice to Expert. Butts and Rich (2015) states Benner “distinguishes five levels of nursing practice 1) novice, 2) advance beginner, 3) competent, 4) proficient, and 5) expert” (p. 474). Nurses graduate from nursing school as a novice and do not become experts until practicing for several years. The nontraditional student entering college is between the ages of 25 and 45 (Genco, 2007). This puts the students in the Levinson early adulthood stage with an increasing amount experiencing the midlife transition (40 to 45-years-old). During this time many life activities are occurring such as marriage, raising a family and working to provide for the family (Dewey, 2007). Non-traditional students now need to divide a 24-hour day into time to attend class, study, do homework, a job, and family issues. As instructors, we need to understand and adapt the curriculum to encompass all these factors as well remembering that we have traditional (students coming straight out of high school) in the same program. Combining the theories of Benner and Dewey assists the nurse educator in meeting the educational needs of the student. The classroom today is diverse not only culturally but also in the age demographics of the students. Throw into this the explosion of technology in society and healthcare and educators have novices not only in healthcare but also in technology.
