Novena for the Sick
Ever since St Josemaria died on June 26, 1975, hundreds of people have written about favors they have received through his intercession: material help, conversions, firm decisions to return to the practice of the Faith, and also the healing of people who were sick.
The person who composed the three novenas, Fr Francisco Faus, explained: “What moved me to write the three novenas to St Josemaria was my love for the founder of Opus Dei. I lived near him for two years in Rome (from October 1953 to July 1955) and then in Brazil during May-June 1974). That was an inestimably great grace for me.”
Fr Francisco continued: “This filial love for someone I always saw as a father – the Father –, and the devotion which, like thousands of others, I feel for him, impelled me to prepare these novenas and circulate them. I thought they might be a popular, simple, accessible way of introducing many people to St Josemaria’s teachings and to his intercession and help.”
Fr Francisco Faus, born in Barcelona in 1931, is a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. He graduated in law at the University of Barcelona and did a doctorate in canon law at the University of St Thomas Aquinas, Rome. He was ordained in 1955 and has lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil since 1961, doing pastoral work with university students, workers, priests and seminarians. He has written several spiritual books.

Letters 7 spirits, all things, and salt by elder don ellisasdjfkl
This document discusses the biblical concept of the "seven spirits" and how they represent wisdom, power, and abilities. It then discusses how these spirits work together to glorify God and bring his kingdom to the earth. It provides examples of the spirits of adoption, grace, truth, glory, prophecy, and judgement. It then briefly discusses the concepts of "all things" and "salt" and how they relate to faith, prayer, and God's promises in the Bible.
1) The document discusses the power and importance of persevering prayer. It notes that God often requires repeated prayer over long periods of time before answering.
2) Persevering prayer requires faith that God hears our prayers and will answer in His timing. Just as farmers must sow seeds and wait patiently for harvest, believers must pray continually and give God time to work.
3) Though God longs to answer quickly, He waits until His children and their needs are fully ripened. Persevering prayer strengthens our faith and brings us closer to God and His will. We should pray constantly and patiently for ourselves, others, and the Church, trusting that God will answer in His perfect timing.
This document summarizes and compiles excerpts from Rev. John Alexander Dowie's periodical "Leaves of Healing". It includes an introduction by the compiler, Prof. Benedictus Wentworth, who compiled this edition as a tribute to Dowie and his work demonstrating God's healing power. The compiled excerpts discuss immediate salvation through repentance, belief, and prayer; provide healing stories from the Bible; and excerpt a sermon given by Dowie emphasizing that "Fear not" is the key message of the Gospel.

Christ is the antidote to death. Jesus said "I and my Father are one." We were originally created in Christ and chosen before the foundation of the world. Christ is the headstone/capstone of the new spiritual temple being built. There is one God manifest in different ways, not three separate persons. We are meant to realize our true identity as Christ and rise up in that understanding. Sin and repentance have been presented in legalistic terms but truly mean a change of heart or mind brought through God's convicting love. What was accomplished at Calvary has already freed us from sin and death through God's grace.
This document contains a prayer for grace from Paul in his letter to Philemon. It includes commentary on the meaning and significance of Paul's prayer for "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit." The commentaries discuss how grace comes from Christ, its importance for Christian life and relationships, and how Paul's prayer models incorporating Christian sentiments into everyday interactions. The document also includes a comparison to a letter by Pliny requesting leniency for a freed slave, noting similarities in tone and style.
How do we get the desires of our heart? Well we are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body and our heart (means from the bible our spirit) is where God has placed our deepest desires within us and by praying in the spirit (specific prayers) we will receive. Enjoy prayer warriors!
This document is the introduction to a book about visions and experiences of the spiritual world. It discusses some of the author's encounters in the spiritual realm beginning in 2006 during a 40 day fast. Some key points:
- The spiritual body is youthful and radiant, with clothing and appearance reflecting one's spiritual development and state.
- Communication is telepathic, beyond language. In heaven, one can instantly understand and experience what others know.
- The only light is from God/Christ, shining through all. More developed spirits see this light directly, while less developed see it as the sun.
- Memory and mind function differently, with memory stored in the soul, not brain. The spiritual world

The document discusses the Holy Spirit as the teacher. It notes that the Apostles were taught by the Holy Spirit so that their teachings were without error. It also says that all Christians are taught by God, not just through human means like parents or teachers, but through the Holy Spirit illuminating their understanding. It cautions that many churchgoers were brought up in a denomination by their parents but were not necessarily taught by God. It provides some tests for discerning if one has truly been taught by the Spirit or just through human instruction alone.
This document discusses the Christian virtues of contentment and thankfulness. It argues that contentment acknowledges God's grace and provision, while thankfulness honors God's goodness. Being content means accepting God's sovereignty over one's possessions, position, and circumstances. Thankfulness means acknowledging how God cares for humanity. The document encourages cultivating thankful hearts through prayer and remembering God's blessings.

This document summarizes teachings from Our Daily Bread for January 4-24, 2016. It discusses Jesus praying in Gethsemane and feeling abandoned by God the Father, even though God was listening. It also discusses reaching out to lonely people and finding encouragement even in difficult times, like the apostle Paul did in prison. The document stresses starting prayer by focusing on God rather than our own concerns, and finding the best kind of happiness through salvation in Jesus Christ rather than always wanting our own way.
This document is a chapter from a book about thankfulness. It discusses 17 facts about the power of having a thankful attitude. Some key points include:
- Thankfulness is more powerful than gifts or talents and determines whether one multiplies their blessings or sees them decrease.
- Choosing to focus on the good things in life leads to feelings of thankfulness. Thankful people focus on blessings rather than problems.
- The thankful are always triumphant, as shown through biblical examples like Ruth and King Ahasuerus expressing gratitude for kindness. The Apostle Paul also frequently expressed thankfulness.
- Maintaining an attitude of thankfulness attracts favor and spiritual blessings into one's life from God.
The document provides the lesson plan and reading assignments for an upcoming Sunday School lesson on personal revelation. It includes questions about why personal revelation is important, how to study out questions and seek revelation through scripture study, focusing on God rather than worldly things, and teachings about receiving personal revelation. It also provides the lesson plan and reading assignments for the previous Sunday's lesson on the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon, including challenges Joseph Smith faced, the lost manuscript pages, the Witnesses, and why the Church was under condemnation in 1832 when members did not remember the new covenant and the Book of Mormon.
This is a collection of writings dealing with the Joy of Jesus that he had by the power of the Holy Spirit in His life, even though He was a man of sorrows on our behalf.

The document contains the lyrics of several Christian songs and hymns that praise God, express faith in God, and reference key beliefs such as the Apostles' Creed. It also includes a brief passage from Romans about spiritual gifts and using them for the benefit of the church. Overall, the document focuses on Christian worship, doctrine, and community.
This document provides an introduction and collection of opening prayers written by Pastor Pete Haynes for worship services at Long Green Valley Church of the Brethren. It explains that an opening prayer can call God's people to welcome God's presence as they are, and awaken them to God opening their doors, selves, and lives to God who is always with them. The document then shares over a dozen sample opening prayers written by the pastor for leading worshippers in confession, praise, and inviting God's presence and guidance.
The document provides the text of a commentary given at the 2016 Good Shepherd Institute Hymn Festival with the theme "Rejoice, Give Thanks, and Sing of God’s Gifts". The commentary discusses God's gifts to humanity through three sections - God's Gifts, Rejoice, and Give Thanks. It describes God's greatest gift of Jesus and salvation, the joy that comes from being restored to God despite suffering, and the importance of genuine thanksgiving that includes both material and spiritual gifts from the Triune God. The commentary encourages singing as a way to enlarge praise for our gracious God and his gifts.
The Heart of Christ Triduum
Dears Friends:
We offer you, in this brochure, some steps to celebrate the three days in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus before the celebration of the feast next 20th October, in the Congregation of Jesus and Mary.
First of all we will prepare ourselves in our heart to have some this time of prayer by telling the Ave Cor Sanctissimum , then we will read the proposed texts for each day; and finally we will tell the Letany of the Heart of Jesus and we will join our commitment of loving Jesus in everything.
The document is a sermon about Philippians 3:1-14 discussing Paul's desire to know Christ fully. It discusses how Paul considered his past religious achievements as worthless compared to knowing Christ. Paul wanted to experience Christ's resurrection power and suffering in order to know him on a deeper, personal level. The sermon encourages focusing on Christ rather than the past and pursuing the heavenly prize of an intimate relationship with God.
This document contains prayers and devotions to be recited daily with Mary. It includes morning and evening prayers focused on Mary such as the Angelus, rosary, and spiritual communions. The document also provides information about the "My Life With Mary" apostolate which seeks to make Mary better known and served.
God, through His grace, calls believers to eternal glory in Christ Jesus. After suffering for a time, God will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle believers. God graciously gives believers a new heart and puts His Spirit within them, enabling them to walk in His ways. Believers cannot claim to deserve God's love and salvation, yet God passionately loves even insignificant humans. God's grace is received with gratitude.
This document contains prayers dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, including a consecration prayer written by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and a litany to the Sacred Heart. It asks Jesus to imprint his pure love on one's heart, consecrates all aspects of one's life to his service, and promises to live and die for his love. The document also includes promises revealed by Jesus to St. Margaret Mary regarding graces for those devoted to his Sacred Heart. It provides instructions for praying the Sacred Heart of Jesus Chaplet and concludes with additional prayers of intercession.
This document contains excerpts from St. Josemaría Escrivá on the topics of Christian marriage and family life. It provides daily reflections on marriage as a divine vocation, a way to holiness, the importance of love, building family through small acts each day, and overcoming difficulties through faith. St. Josemaría emphasizes seeing marriage not just as human love but as a calling from God to sanctify oneself and others through fulfilling conjugal and family duties.
The document discusses the importance of prayer based on biblical passages. It encourages praying persistently like the widow in Luke, using the Lord's Prayer as a model, and praying in faith that God exists, hears prayers, and answers them. Specific types of prayer discussed are intercessory prayer for others and trusting that the Holy Spirit intercedes perfectly for believers when they don't know what to pray for. The overall message is to make prayer a regular practice.
The poem describes spending Christmas in heaven with Jesus. It talks about seeing Christmas trees and hearing Christmas songs from earth, but says nothing compares to being with Jesus. It encourages the reader by saying that although they miss their loved one, they are not far away and will see them again when they spend Christmas with Jesus face to face.
The devotional talks about still grieving the loss of a loved one six months ago. It reflects on how the apostles must have felt after Jesus died and how Mary dealt with the suffering of watching her son die. It expresses trusting God to get through the holidays with the support of family and friends.
The song lyrics talk about a child being born for the benefit of mankind.
This document outlines a teaching on releasing souls from hell through prayer. It provides 7 methods for doing so: 1) Through faith in God's character, 2) Spiritually through visions, 3) Sacramentally through communion, 4) Through conversions among the living, 5) Through revelations of Jesus' "Golden Heart", 6) Legally by "suing Satan" in prayer, 7) Through giving with the intention of saving souls. It encourages studying the author's books on this topic and contacting them for more information and seminar schedules. It includes a communion service "on behalf of the damned" to release souls from hell through prayer.
The document describes members of the TOA PAYOH Dgroup sharing about how the group has impacted them. It provides insights into each member's personality, occupation, time in Singapore, favorite Bible verse, and what following Jesus means to them. The group has brought them closer to God and each other, providing acceptance, encouragement, and a sense of family. They find strength, hope and purpose through their shared faith in Jesus.

THE FOUNDER OF OPUS DEI

St. Josemaria Escriva was born in Barbastro, Spain, on January 9, 1902. He was ordained a priest on March 28, 1925. On October 2, 1928, God showed him the mission he was calling him to carry out, and St. Josemaria founded Opus Dei. On February 14, 1930, he realized, again by God’s grace, that women should also belong to this work. This was the start of a new pathway within the Church, helping people of every race, walk of life and educational background to realize that we are all called to the fullness of charity and apostolate right there where we are, finding God in our everyday lives and especially in our ordinary work.
On February 14, 1943, Josemaria Escriva started the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross as an integral part of Opus Dei. One-on-one and through this associa¬tion, he carried out a far-reaching apostolate with priests, becoming a shining example of care for priests’ holiness and fraternity.
In 1946 he moved to Rome. Spurred on by his love for God and apostolic zeal, he dedicated himself to spreading Christ’s message throughout the world, in total union with the Pope and in service of the local Churches. He inspired a wide range of social projects that contributed to spreading the Gospel bring¬ing about much good on the human plane.
On different trips in Western Europe and Latin America, he carried out an un¬tiring catechesis. Large crowds of people came to listen to him, drawn by his reputation for holiness.
At noon on June 26, 1975, he had a heart attack and rendered his soul to God. Pope St. John Paul II beatified him in 1992 and canonized him ten years later in 2002. St. Josemaria’s body rests in Rome, in Opus Dei’s prelatic church ded¬icated to Our Lady of Peace. Faithful from around the world go there to pray.
In the Footprints of Our Faith
A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HOLY LAND
BY JESÚS GIL AND EDUARDO GIL
4TH EXTENDED EDITION
The 27 articles in “In the Footprints of Our Faith” offer religious, historical, and archaeological considerations about important sites in the Holy Land: Nazareth, Ein Karem, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jordan River, Cana, Capernaum, the Lake of Gennesaret, Bethany, Emmaus, and more. They have been written in hopes of helping readers personally “immerse” themselves in the Gospel, as St. Josemaria recommended, so that the Word of God may have a deep and lasting effect on their life.
St. Josemaria had always wanted to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and dreamed of starting various apostolic initiatives there which would help the Church. He was never able to fulfill this dream, but his first successor, Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, was able to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from March 14–22, 1994. On the morning of March 23rd, only a few hours after Blessed Alvaro’s return to Rome, God called him to Heaven. With the faithful of Opus Dei and those with a devotion to Blessed Alvaro in mind, there are references to his final days in the Holy Land scattered throughout the text of the extended edition of “In the Footprints of Our Faith”.
The publication has been edited for non-commercial and private use. The Saxum Foundation distributes it as a free e-book which can be downloaded in several electronic formats.
Saxum International Foundation is a nonprofit organization registered in Italy. In collaboration with the Association for Cultural Interchange, it is responsible for the fundraising of Saxum’s construction and development.
The Saxum Visitor Center helps pilgrims to deepen their knowledge of the Holy Land through different multimedia resources in order to enrich each person’s Holy Land experience.
Saint Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, the founder of Opus Dei, longed to visit the Holy Land to follow in the steps of Jesus Christ. He wished, too, that all of his spiritual children in Opus Dei and their friends and families could have the opportunity to “pray, kneel upon and kiss the ground that Jesus walked on.”
He always recommended to imagine oneself as one more character in the scenes when reading the Gospel. Saxum hopes to facilitate each pilgrim’s personal encounter with Christ in His land, offering a chance to take a part in the scenes of the Holy Scripture.

In the Footprints of our Faith
A journey through the Holy Land, by Jesús Gil and Eduardo Gil
This series of articles about the Holy Land, which began as a way to celebrate the Year of Faith opened by Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2012, and closed by Pope Francis on November 23, 2013. The original texts appeared over those two years in Crónica, a monthly publication for the faithful of the Prelature of Opus Dei, under the title “In the Footprints of Our Faith.” Here we present a compilation of these articles, sponsored by the Saxum Foundation, with only minor changes.
We were inspired by St. Josemaria’s suggestion (repeated many times) to immerse ourselves in the Gospel, to take part personally in every scene in a way that our lives would never be the same after reading the Word of God. This is why, in addition to recent historical and archaeological investigations, we draw primarily from the writings of those who can best guide us: the Fathers of the Church, who have passed on our Tradition; the Magisterium and the Liturgy of the Church; and, of course, the founder of Opus Dei. Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, St. Josemaria’s first successor, was invaluable in helping us better understand his teachings, a task now carried out by the current Prelate of Opus Dei, Bishop Javier Echevarría.
This publication may only be used for personal or educational purposes and not for public or commercial purposes.
Saxum International Foundation is a nonprofit organization registered in Italy in accordance with legislation of the State of Italy. The Foundation is responsible for the global fundraising campaign for the construction and development of Saxum Retreat Center and the Saxum Visitor Center, and for the establishment of an endowment fund for the present and future needs of both. These initiatives aim to fulfill a dream of St. Josemaria, founder of Opus Dei: to help pilgrims from all over the world seek Christ, find Christ, and love Christ during their visit to the Holy Land.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
3. Day 1
God loves us
4St Josemaría says:
It’s necessary to become convinced that God is close beside us all the time. – We
live as though the Lord were far away, in the starlit heavens, and we don’t consider that he is also always by our side.
And he is here like a loving Father – he loves each one of us more than all the
mothers in the world can love their children – helping us, inspiring us, blessing...
and forgiving... We need to be imbued, to be saturated with the knowledge that
the Lord, who is close beside us and in heaven, is our Father and very much our
Father. (The Way, 267)
When it feels as if the Lord has given up on you, don’t give way to sadness. Seek
him with greater determination! He who is Love does not leave you on your own.
(The Forge, 250)
If troubles come, you can be sure they are a proof of the Fatherly love God has
for you. (The Forge, 815)
–A Child. –A Sick Person. –As you write these words, don’t you feel tempted to
put them with a capital letter? It’s because, for a soul in love, children and sick
people are He. (The Way, 419)
4Intention A:
May God our Lord grant me the grace to see with the clear light of faith
that he is always at my side, like a loving father who will never abandon
me. May he make me understand that he is Love, and that he desires my
good more than anyone in the world. May he help me to have complete
trust in the divine Doctor, Jesus Christ, who can give health to my body,
if that is his holy Will, and peace to my soul.
4Intention B:
May God grant his son/daughter... the grace to accept suffering, full of
faith and confidence and with the complete certainty that he is always
by their side, helping them with great fatherly affection. And if it is his
holy Will, may he grant them a cure and total recovery.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2

4. Day 2
Jesus is our Friend
4St Josemaría says:
Jesus is your friend. –The Friend. –With a heart of flesh, like yours.
–With eyes, which look so lovingly, which wept for Lazarus... –And as
much as he loves Lazarus, he loves you. (The Way, 422)
You seek the company of friends who, with their conversation and affection, with their friendship, make the exile of this world more bearable for you..., although friends sometimes let one down. –I don’t think
it’s wrong to do that. But... how is it that you don’t frequent daily with
greater intensity the company, the conversation of the Great Friend,
who never lets one down? (The Way, 88)
By now they have fastened Jesus to the wooden cross. The executioners have ruthlessly carried out the sentence. Our Lord, with infinite
meekness, has let them have their way. It was not necessary for him to
undergo so much torment. He could have avoided those trials, those
humiliations, that ill-usage, that iniquitous judgement, and the shame
of the gallows, and the nails and the lance... But he wanted to suffer all
this for you and for me. And we, are we not going to respond? (The Way
of the Cross, Station 11, 1)
4Intention A:
May Most Holy Mary and St Joseph obtain for me the grace to feel the
tenderness, consolation and joy of Christ’s friendship, remembering that
he has told us, “I have called you friends”. May his friendship make it
easier for me to accept and offer to God my sufferings, for as long as he
decides, thinking of how lovingly Jesus chose to suffered his Passion,
for love of me.
4Intention B:
May God, through the intercession of Our Lady and St Joseph, grant...
the grace to feel the tenderness, consolation and joy of Christ’s friendship, making it easier to accept and offer their sufferings to God, thinking of the love with which Jesus suffered for us. May they not doubt
that Jesus will grant them health if that is best for their soul.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2

5. Day 3
God hears the prayers of the sick
4St Josemaría says:
After the prayer of the Priest and of consecrated virgins, the prayer most pleasing to God is that of children and that of the sick. (The Way, 98)
Jesus speaks: “Amen I say to you: ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you
shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” Pray. In what human venture
can you have greater guarantees of success? (The Way, 96)
To pray is the way to keep all the evils we suffer in check. (The Forge, 76)
We must have complete faith in the one who saves us, in this divine Doctor who
was sent with the express purpose of curing us, and the more serious or hopeless our illness is the stronger our faith has to be. (Friends of God, 193)
Repeat with a firm hope: Lord, see how ill I am; Lord, you who died on the
Cross for love of me, come and heal me. Be full of confidence, I insist. Keep on
calling out to his most loving Heart. As he cured the lepers we read about in
the Gospel, he will cure you. (The Forge, 213)
4Intention A:
Through the grace of the Holy Spirit may my faith in prayer increase
each day, in the certainty that God always listens to the humble and
patient prayers of his children. May he always grant me the graces most
suited for my sanctification and salvation. And in asking Jesus to cure
me, may I not lack the faith that he will do so if it is for my good.
4Intention B:
May the Holy Spirit help... to have great faith in prayer, and find peace
and security in it, knowing for certain that Our Lord promised to listen
and pay attention to our prayers, always willing to give us whatever
is best for us. May we not lose heart in asking, with the support of the
Virgin Mary, for a cure for this sick person, if this is the best thing for
him/her.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2

6. Day 4
God helps us to be cheerful
4St Josemaría says:
The cheerfulness you should have is not the kind we might call physiological, that of a healthy animal, but a different, supernatural, one,
which comes from the abandonment of everything and the abandonment
of yourself into the loving arms of our Father-God. (The Way, 659)
Cheerfulness is a necessary consequence of our divine filiation, of knowing that our Father God loves us with a love of predilection, that he
welcomes us, helps us and forgives us. –Remember this and never forget
it: even if it should seem at times that everything is collapsing, nothing is
collapsing at all, because God doesn’t lose battles. (The Forge, 332)
True love demands getting out of oneself, giving oneself. Genuine love
brings joy in its wake, a joy that has its roots in the shape of the Cross.
(The Forge, 28)
I want you to be happy on earth. –But you won’t be if you don’t lose that
fear of suffering. For, as long as we are “wayfarers”, it is precisely in
suffering that our happiness lies. (The Way, 217)
4Intention A:
May God grant me the grace to experience the wonder of Christian joy,
which Jesus gives to us as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, whenever
we embrace the pain, illnesses and unpleasantness of this life, with total
abandonment in the arms of God our Father. May he help me to understand that happiness is born of love, and that love becomes authentic,
like gold in the furnace, through trials and the Cross.
4Intention B:
May God grant his son/daughter... the gift of Christian joy which the Holy
Spirit gives to those souls who abandon themselves like children into the
arms of God their Father. May the experience of that joy help them understand that there is no greater happiness than to love a great deal, imitating
the total Love with which Jesus Christ embraced the Cross for us.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2
6
7. Day 5
God blesses those who accept his Will
4St Josemaría says:
A wholehearted acceptance of the Will of God necessarily brings joy
and peace: happiness in the Cross. –It’s then one sees that Christ’s yoke
is sweet and that his burden is not heavy. (The Way, 758)
Jesus suffers to fulfil the Will of the Father... And you, who also wish to
fulfil the most Holy Will of God, following in the footsteps of the Master,
can you complain if you meet suffering as a travelling companion?
(The Way, 213)
Are you suffering a great tribulation? –Are things going against you?
Say, very slowly, as if savouring it, this strong and manly prayer: “May
the most just and most lovable Will of God be done, be fulfilled, be
praised and eternally exalted above all things. Amen. Amen.” I assure
you that you will find peace. (The Way, 691)
4Intention A:
Helped by the Blessed Virgin Mary, may I learn how to accept the Will of
God with love, saying with Mary, “Be it done”, full of faith and love. And
may I never forget that the Will of God — even when I don’t understand
it — is always a caress from Heaven, and is for my true good.
Therefore, the most perfect prayer I can say is, “Thy will be done on earth
as it is in Heaven.”
4Intention B:
May Our Lady help her son/daughter... to accept the holy Will of God
with great faith and love. And, as the first fruit of that acceptance, may
he/she also find peace, and experience the truth of Jesus’ words: “My
yoke is gentle, and my burden is light”.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2
7
8. Day 6
Jesus teaches us to turn suffering into an act of love
4St Josemaría says:
When you are ill, offer up your sufferings with love, and they will turn
into incense rising up in God’s honour, and making you holy.
(The Forge, 791)
The way of Love is called Sacrifice. (The Forge, 768)
With you, Jesus, how pleasurable is suffering and how luminous is darkness! (The Way, 229)
–See how lovingly he embraces the Cross. –Learn from him. –Jesus
carries the Cross for you: you... carry it for Jesus. But don’t drag the
Cross... Carry it squarely on your shoulder, becauseyour Cross, if you
carry it like that, will not be just any Cross: it will be... the Holy Cross.
Don’t carry your Cross with resignation: resignation is not a generous
word. Love the Cross. When you really love it, your Cross will be... a
Cross, without a Cross. (Holy Rosary, 4th Sorrowful Mystery)
4Intention A:
May God Our Lord teach me to see pain, sickness and illness, not as a
punishment but as a way of sharing in the Cross of Christ, so that I may
get to love the Cross, as he loved it. May I learn to embrace it, and offer
it to God without any denial or complaint. May I not stop praying to God
with faith, for the grace of my cure, always united to his Will.
4Intention B:
May God Our Lord help... understand that pain and suffering are not a
punishment but a way of sharing in the Cross of Christ, and of embracing it with the same love with which he carried that Cross to Calvary.
May we also never stop praying with faith and humility that God may
cure... of his/her illness.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2

9. Day 7
God helps us to give joy to others
4St Josemaría says:
Don’t forget that sometimes one needs to have smiling faces around.
(Furrow, 57)
Carefully avoid anything that can hurt other people’s hearts.
(Furrow, 807)
You must make up your mind to follow the way of self-surrender: the
Cross on your shoulders, with a smile on your lips, and a light in your
soul. (The Way of the Cross, Station 2, 3)
All the things that are now worrying you can be solved by making an
effort to smile for love of God. (Furrow, 89)
You should make sure that wherever you are there is that good humour
– that cheerfulness – which is born of an interior life. (The Forge, 151)
4Intention A:
While I am ill, may God Our Lord make my heart capable of overlooking my sufferings and turning my attention affectionately to the needs
and concerns of others. May he grant me good humour and pleasantness, and make me attentive to others, spreading optimism to all those
who accompany me and help me: relatives, friends, carers, priests who
visit, etc.
4Intention B:
May God Our Lord help... during their illness to face up to their sufferings with courage, so that rising above them, they will be a continuous
source of light and joy for others through their example of generosity
and self-denial, with a radiant smile, good humour, ardent faith and
burning love.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2
9
10. Day 8
Jesus invites us to work with Him
4St Josemaría says:
Remember this at the moment of sorrow or expiation: the Cross is the symbol of the redeeming Christ. It has ceased to be the symbol of evil, becoming instead the sign of victory. (The Forge, 782)
Therefore, if God wills that we be struck down by some affliction, take it
as a sign that he considers us mature enough to be associated even more
closely with his redeeming Cross. (Friends of God, 124)
If you realise that those sufferings – physical or moral – mean purification
and merit, bless them. (The Way, 219)
Is it not true that as soon as you cease to be afraid of the Cross, of what people call the cross, when you set your will to accept the Will of God, then you
find happiness, and all your worries, all your sufferings, physical or moral,
pass away? (The Way of the Cross, Station 2)
4Intention A:
May God help me to be grateful for the cross that he sends me, and to
see it for what it is: an act of God’s confidence in me. Let me understand that Our Lord, in trusting me with his Cross through this illness,
is giving me a great opportunity to purify and sanctify my soul, making
me his collaborator in the salvation of the world. May I therefore regard
pain as a treasure that I can offer up for the spiritual good of my family
and friends, for the Church, sinners who have turned away from God,
for those who suffer and for so many other people.
4Intention B:
May Jesus help... to discover that the cross, the suffering resulting from
illness, can become a divine and holy treasure, when one knows how to
unite it to the redeeming sacrifice of Christ with faith and love, both for
the purification and maturing of the soul, and for the salvation of many
relatives, friends and sinners who have turned away from God, for those
who suffer and for so many other people.
4Prayer to St Josemaría: page 2
10
11. Day 9
Mary, our Mother, is by our side
4St Josemaría says:
My Mother! Mothers on earth look with greater love on the weakest of
their children, the one with the worst health, or who is least intelligent, or is a
poor cripple… ––Sweet Lady! I know that you are more of a Mother than all
other mothers put together. –And, since I am your son… And, since I am weak,
and ill… and crippled… and ugly... (The Forge, 234)
If I were a leper my mother would hug me. She would kiss my wounds without
fear or hesitation. –Well then, what would the Blessed Virgin Mary do? When
we feel we are like lepers, all full of sores, we have to cry out: Mother! And the
protection of our Mother will be like a kiss upon our wounds, which obtains our
cure. (The Forge, 190)
Have recourse to the Blessed Virgin every day with complete confidence. Your
soul and your life will feel comforted at once. –She will let you partake of the
treasures she keeps in her heart, for “never has it been known that anyone who
sought her protection was left unaided.” (Furrow, 768)
4Intention A:
May God grant me an even greater devotion to Our Lady, my most Holy
Mother, and give me absolute confidence in her intercession, and in her
maternal care. May he also make me understand that to obtain the graces that I ask him for — from the sanctification of suffering to the cure
of my illness and full recovery — the gentle and sure way is to have
recourse to the mediation of Mary, especially through the devotions she
most appreciates, such as saying the Holy Rosary every day.
4Intention B:
May Our Lord help... take refuge in the arms of Mary, Mother of God and
our Mother, with complete and filial devotion and confidence. May they
feel Mary’s maternal support and proximity, and never forget to turn to her
intercession for the sanctification of suffering, a cure for their illness and a
speedy recovery. May they keep up the holy custom of saying the Rosary
every day.
