The document discusses myths about English language learning and provides principles for instructing English language learners. It addresses 10 common myths, such as whether younger children are better at languages and if correcting every mistake is important. It also outlines 6 key principles for English language learner instruction, such as providing opportunities to practice language features in each discipline and regarding home languages as assets. The document concludes by listing actions parents can take to help, like maintaining the home language and having school discussions.
An identity theft ring was busted in Brown Deer, Wisconsin after being caught on surveillance video at a Kohl's store. The ring, based out of Detroit, had stolen over $20,000 worth of merchandise through a sophisticated scheme of obtaining credit reports, guessing security questions, and applying for credit cards. Their activities were observed by the Kohl's loss prevention supervisor, who notified police. A multi-agency investigation uncovered that the ring had been operating for 25 years and had stolen over $300,000 through credit, leasing vehicles, and fencing stolen goods. Ringleader Verita Hines-Flagg was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
The document summarizes the benefits of excellent language teaching and learning, which involves teaching grammar and vocabulary in context rather than in isolation, making connections to other disciplines, and incorporating culture into all lessons rather than separating language from its cultural context. It notes that this approach leads to benefits like greater cognitive flexibility, higher-order thinking skills, and higher math and verbal SAT scores with each additional year of language study. It also emphasizes the importance of maintaining one's home language and discusses concepts like balanced bilingualism, third-culture kids, and ways parents can support language learning.
The document outlines a SWOT analysis for WXIITV station. It identifies several strengths including good prime time programming, knowledge of the local community, and reputation for weather coverage. Weaknesses include poor long-term planning, lack of visibility goals, and poor staff morale. Opportunities exist to expand coverage, upgrade equipment, and partner with local organizations. Threats include ignoring growth areas and not partnering with other industries.

This short document is about tesselation and consists of the word "Tesselation" repeated multiple times and credited to the same author, Joannna. It provides minimal information beyond introducing the topic of tesselation and identifying Joannna as the author.
Company Profile for my freelancing career in which I explain who I worked for, what I was able to achieve on their behalf and the benefits my clients' had in choosing me.
Agile Project Management is an iterative method for determining project requirements for software that allows for highly flexible and interactive delivery. It stems from Agile Software Development, which is based on iterative and incremental development requiring collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional teams. APM works best for projects with requirements that change constantly and cannot be set in stone, using an iterative approach with constant partial deliverables to achieve quick wins for stakeholders. Scrum is an applicable software development framework that allows for process adaptability through daily meetings to review deliverables.
This document discusses inquiry learning and the characteristics of an inquiring school. It describes inquiry learning as an active approach where students investigate meaningful questions to develop skills and deep understanding. An inquiring school is characterized by students actively involved in driving their own learning through rich questions. Teachers see themselves as learners and build students' capabilities. Planning is collaborative and ongoing to meet students' evolving needs and interests. The curriculum is integrated through inquiry to help students see connections across learning areas.
The document discusses some of the key arguments against outsourcing journalism, including concerns about accuracy in reporting, lack of eyewitness accounts and solid sources, nuanced coverage, downplaying important skills and experience development. It notes that outsourcing turns fixed costs into variable costs but questions what is not considered, such as these quality-related issues. It also raises the question of whether important investigative journalism like Watergate could happen today if journalists are outsourced.
Economic journalism faces challenges in covering complex financial topics for general audiences. Major media outlets once dominated coverage but now face more competition from blogs and independent sources online. Journalists struggle with the speed and complexity of financial news, while also facing constraints from public relations. However, some efforts like Planet Money have found innovative ways to explain economic issues to broader audiences through multimedia reporting and entertainment-focused explanations. The future may involve more collaboration between reporters and use of new technologies to engage audiences.
The document discusses the changing skills needs in the 21st century workplace and education system. It notes that 75% of future jobs will require skills in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). It emphasizes that students need a strong foundation in math concepts and problem solving skills to prepare for jobs that have not yet been invented. The document presents strategies for teaching math conceptually using multiple representations like concrete models, pictures and symbols to build understanding.
A Greyhound bus crashed on I-24 in Manchester, Tennessee, killing 4 people. The driver's throat was slit by a passenger who then lost control of the bus. 36 passengers were on board and some were taken to local hospitals, but their conditions and locations are unknown. Greyhound needs to provide information to passengers, families, and the media while coordinating with authorities on the investigation and response.

2. Problem statement: chi
Gli attori coinvolti sono operatori oppure altre applicazioni;
possono:
Applicazione architetturalmente scalabile, affidabile, tollerante
ai guasti
4. Problem statement: come
Utilizziamo Quartz Enterprise Scheduler come infrastruttura
listener (callback eseguite programmaticamente a job
schedulato/iniziato/terminato/fallito), costruiamo su questi i
6. Tecnologie utilizzate
JVM 1.5
Quartz Scheduler (versione di riferimento 1.6.6):
! Infrastruttura di scheduling
Apache Shiro (Ki / jSecurity):
! Strato Authn/Authz
Apache River (Jini):
! Service discovery via multicasting
8. Deploy overview
Architettura three tiered
Presentation layer
Web service asincrono
Interfaccia esposta tramite web application (RIA, AJAX powered - TBD)
BL layer
L’Orchestratore
La federazione di Quartz workers
DA layer
DB server (SQLServer / Oracle - TBD)
9. Deploy specs overview
