The Township of Angle Inlet is located in the Northwest Angle of Minnesota. It has a population of 120 people and one room elementary school. The nearest high school is 40 miles away in Warroad, MN. Medical services require a 45 mile boat ride to Kenora, Ontario or a 62 mile drive to Warroad. In the 1990s, disputed fishing limits between the US and Canada hurt the local economy and tourism. To gain attention, some residents proposed seceding from the US, which led to a negotiated agreement on fishing limits. The Red Lake Band owns 70% of the Northwest Angle land.
