My career spans 43 years, starting as an apprentice Fitter and Turner at Eskom. I then went on to complete my
military service and then returned to Eskom to complete and qualify as a Fitter and Turner 18 months later.
I worked at Eskom for 11 years in total as a Fitter and Turner, and then transferred to Rosheville Engineering
Investigations – Plant Performance division still with Eskom. My function was to travel to new and existing power
stations to do acceptance testing and performance testing of old plants. This was for a period of 4 years.
I then transferred to Eskom Megawatt Park Quality Department were I travelled to different suppliers for Eskom
ranging from engineering structural steel and plate work. Whilst at Megawatt Park I qualified for Level 2 SAIW
Welding Inspection Certificate. Other areas of experience were in the textile industry where I carried out
capability assessments at cotton mills and the CMT (Cut Make and Trim) of garments and any other areas where
companies wanted to tender for Eskom contracts. The assessments included engineering works. I also assisted
in compiling and implementing quality systems and procedures for various suppliers. This was conducted over a
period of 4 years.
I then left Eskom and went to Multotec where I continued to do all of the inspections at their suppliers who were
fabricating and supplying mining filtration equipment. I was there for a period of 15 years, the last 4 years as
Quality Manager in the Manufacturing Division.
I then moved to DRA on a contract basis to do the Quality Control and Expediting on all of the mechanical
equipment being manufactured for various mines, both locally and internationally.
I am available on a month’s notice period.
