Paul and his companions traveled from town to town presenting guidelines from Jerusalem leaders to strengthen congregations' faith. Their plan was to preach in Asia but the Holy Spirit redirected them to Macedonia. Paul had a vision of a Macedonian asking for help and took this as a sign they should preach there. They traveled to various cities in Macedonia, including Philippi where Lydia, a dealer of expensive textiles, believed after listening to Paul and invited them to stay with her.
The document discusses Paul's travels and interactions with other Christian leaders. It describes how Paul spent time in Corinth before departing for Syria with Priscilla and Aquila. It then talks about a man named Apollos who came to Ephesus and preached powerfully about Jesus, though he did not fully understand Jesus' role. When Priscilla and Aquila heard Apollos, they took him aside and explained Christianity more completely to him. Apollos then traveled to Achaia to help believers there by debating Jews and proving from scripture that Jesus is the Messiah.
This document summarizes John Bunyan's classic work "The Pilgrim's Progress". It discusses several key themes and events from the story, including Christian's journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City, the costs of salvation including giving up worldly possessions, and knowledge gained through the pilgrims' travels. It also notes that Bunyan wrote the first part of the book while imprisoned, and that imprisonment is a theme as some characters experience jail.
This document provides an introduction and summary of the book of 1 Kings. It discusses:
- The book covers the transition of power from King David to his son Solomon, and the division of the kingdom after Solomon's death.
- It introduces stories that raise questions about determining who and what to trust, such as prophets providing conflicting messages.
- The document uses these stories to encourage examining faith with evidence and understanding, rather than blind belief, by comparing other examples in the Bible.
“Everything is Always Going to Get Worse!”Peter Hammond
This document discusses how prayer and faith can overcome seemingly impossible obstacles and bring about positive change. It provides numerous examples from the author's experiences where countries opened to the gospel despite being formerly communist or closed, including China, Mozambique, Angola, Eastern Europe, and Sudan. The author argues that through prayer and action, Christians can transform nations and change the course of history, rather than giving in to defeatism. While challenges remain, the examples demonstrate the power of God to answer prayers and accomplish his will.
1666 and the Sabbatean Roots of the New World DisorderPeter Hammond
Sabbatai Zevi was a 17th century Jewish rabbi who declared himself the Messiah in 1666. He taught that salvation could be achieved through sin, and gained over a million followers before converting to Islam under threat of death. His followers, like the Dönmeh sect, believed his actions fulfilled mystical prophecies and justified breaking religious laws. Later Sabbatean groups promoted further anti-nomianism, deception, and subversion of other religions to bring about a new world order through breaking down existing moral and social structures.
The document contains passages from Galatians chapter 1 that discuss Paul defending the true gospel that he preached. He expresses astonishment that the Galatians are deserting the gospel of grace from Christ to follow a false gospel. Paul states that even an angel from heaven should be condemned if they preach a gospel contrary to what he preached. He asserts that he received the gospel through a revelation from Jesus Christ, not from any man.

Coming Home To Our True Identity - Charles Razzellrfochler
Charles Razzell contrasts the attitudes and outcomes for two men who encountered God's power: Simon the Sorcerer and Paul the Apostle (Acts chapters 8 & 9). God calls us to experience sonship and values us accordingly, whereas many of us still tend to assess each other for what we do. The best possible outcome is when we know who we are in Christ and live accordingly; Jesus being the Vine, and we the branches. 4th Sunday - First Reading - Jeremiah 1:4–5, 17–19 Daniel Mayne Sr.
This document summarizes a passage from the Book of Jeremiah in the Bible. It discusses God calling Jeremiah to be a prophet at a young age, around 20 years old, despite Jeremiah's doubts and reluctance. The document notes that God assured Jeremiah He would provide the necessary grace to accomplish the task and that Jeremiah should not be crushed by opposition but should proclaim God's message boldly as God would defend him.
Jesus teaches with confidence in the synagogue in Capernaum, surprising the congregation with his forthright style unlike the usual religion scholars who quibble and quote. When a man with an unclean spirit interrupts and yells at Jesus, Jesus rebukes the spirit and it leaves the man. The people are amazed at Jesus' new teaching and authority over evil spirits. After leaving the synagogue, Jesus heals Simon's mother-in-law of a fever and that evening heals many sick and afflicted people who come to him, commanding the demons not to speak because they knew his true identity.
This document discusses how Jesus is better than religion or trying to be good enough through works. It argues that salvation comes through faith in Christ, not from obeying religious rules or laws. The document references a passage from Galatians where Paul confronts Peter for withdrawing from Gentile Christians out of fear of what other Jews might think, and says that people are made right with God through faith in Jesus, not by works of the law.
1) The document summarizes the story of John and Betty Stam, Christian missionaries who were killed in China in 1934 while serving with the China Inland Mission.
2) It then draws parallels between their willingness to follow God's calling and sacrifice everything and the story of Abraham in the Bible.
3) The author argues that God choosing to work through and save particular individuals, like Abraham and the Stams, rather than everyone equally seems unfair but is the "scandal of Christianity" that unbelievers find foolish.
Dinner and communion will be held at 6:30 pm at Big Tygart UMC. A Good Friday service will be at 7 pm at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, WV. The document includes several Bible passages discussing the importance of wisdom, walking with God and wise people, rejecting isolation, and parenting children with discipline and wisdom. It encourages finding meaning by respecting and obeying God.

Absalom feigned reconciliation with his father King David after being exiled for years, but was still plotting to overthrow him. Absalom had an ungrateful heart despite Joab helping to convince David to allow Absalom's return, and repaid Joab's favor by burning his fields. True beauty and favor come from having a godly character and heart of gratitude rather than outward appearance alone. Absalom's seeming humility before David was merely hypocrisy, as his heart was not right with God.

This document contains 15 pages summarizing passages from Acts 23. The summaries discuss Paul being held in prison for his safety after appearing before the Sanhedrin, a plot by some Jews to kill Paul, and how Paul's nephew informed authorities of the plot and saved Paul's life. It emphasizes having faith in God and allowing the Holy Spirit to work.
This document outlines four tests or trials that a true prophet must pass:
1) Their messages must be in accordance with what is already revealed in the Bible.
2) Their predictions must come true, except in cases of conditional prophecies.
3) They must exalt Jesus as the only Savior.
4) Their life and fruits must be consistent with their message.
The document examines how Ellen G. White passes all four of these tests to demonstrate that she was a true prophet.
1. Nebuchadnezzar erected a golden statue and demanded all bow to worship it, but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused.
2. They were reported to Nebuchadnezzar, who gave them another chance to comply or be thrown into a fiery furnace. They still refused.
3. Nebuchadnezzar had the furnace heated extra hot and the three men thrown in. However, God protected them, and a fourth figure was seen walking with them. They emerged unharmed, leading Nebuchadnezzar to acknowledge the God of Israel.

Pilate questions Jesus about whether he is the King of the Jews. Jesus responds that his kingdom is not of this world and that he was born to testify to the truth. Though Pilate declares Jesus a king, Jesus explains that his kingdom is from another place and that he came to testify to the truth, implying a spiritual rather than political kingdom.
The enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were rebuilding the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. They approached the leaders and offered to help with the rebuilding. However, their real intention was to discourage and frustrate the work. They bribed officials to work against the rebuilding efforts and wrote letters to the king accusing the Jews of rebellion. The enemies did not want the walls of Jerusalem rebuilt in case it diminished tribute and taxes paid to the king.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
8. The congregation in Antioch was blessed
with a number of prophet-preachers and
teachers:
Barnabas, Simon, nicknamed Niger,
Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen, an advisor to
the ruler Herod, Saul.
9. One day as they were worshiping God—they
were also fasting as they waited for
guidance—the Holy Spirit spoke: “Take
Barnabas and Saul and commissionthem for
the work I have called them to do.”
3 So they commissionedthem. In that circle of
intensity and obedience, of fastingand
praying, they laid hands on their heads and
sentthem off.
