To whom it may concern,
I am writing to recommend Tariq Nisar to you.
I have known Tariq for about a year. He took a class in biostatistics from me in fall 2015 and a class in bioinformatics
from me in spring 2016, both at the graduate level. Despite having little training in statistics or programming
prior to my classes, Tariq demonstrated determination and skill in both classes. He frequently visited with me
during office hours to ask questions and discuss statistical ideas relevant to his research. He was always present
and attentive in class. As a result of his hard work in these classes, Tariq has developed expertise in the statistical
analysis of large datasets, particularly those within a life-sciences context.
Tariq is clearly enthusiastic about statistics and seems on track to carve out a career path that will allow him to
apply statistics to real-world data. He possesses valuable skills in programming (particularly with R, the current
lingua franca of the statistics community) as well as the knowledge necessary to apply and interpret the appropriate
statistical techniques in a life-science context. On a personal level, he is a pleasure to work with and communicates
well.
I am pleased to recommend Tariq to you and would be happy to answer any further questions you have.
Sincerely,
Alan Dabney
