2. Introduction
• There are around 40,000 to 60,000 NGOs in Nepal but there used to be no
directory as such providing the information of all the NGOs.
• NGOs in Nepal is the only directory of Nepal, where we can find the
information about the NGOs all in one place
• Developed by Parewa Labs team.
3. Idea
• Anton Fjodorov a Swedish citizen who wanted to help the local NGOs here
in Nepal during his stay of 4 months time.
• Quakemap.org
• Startupsinnepal.com
4. Why ?
• The motive of creating an NGO directory is so that the hassles in finding
the organizations of people choice are no more a headache.
• So many people want to visit Nepal and volunteer at non-profits here.
Especially, after the April earthquake, lots of visitors flocked to Nepal for
‘Voluntourism’.
• Companies looking for ways to donate to causes, professionals who want to
give back to society.
5. How people can use NGOs in Nepal?
• Youngsters
Find NGOs near their home or office and volunteer a few hours a week
• Companies
Find NGOs to partner with for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
• Foreigners
Contact NGOs in Kathmandu regarding opportunities to volunteer and/or intern.
• Nepalese living abroad
Understand how local organizations are solving some of the deepest problems in Nepalese society and
perhaps donate to causes they like or give ideas.
6. Why only NGOs, not INGOs ?
• INGOs bring in a lot of money into Nepal but they have a huge
administrative overhead.
• The impact they have is very little, compared to local NGOs who are doing
much better work with limited resources.
• Clean up Nepal, teach for Nepal, Youth action Nepal.
12. Contribution
