Traffic has increased around Eccles due to construction of a new Metro link, delaying motorists and students getting to their destinations. Students at Eccles College say it now takes over an hour for buses to arrive, affecting their education. A mother and baby were knocked over by a car in Eccles, suffering minor injuries and being taken to hospital. The driver has not been apprehended. The media department at Eccles College will take a trip to Berlin to visit film festivals and tours to gain international media industry insight. Eccles College's football team won their finals in a penalty shootout against rival Pendleton College.
1. Eccles bus traffic/railway metro.
This week an increase of traffic has accumulated around the Walkden and Eccles area. As a new
Metro link is being built from Salford to Manchester. This has in turn delayed motorists and students
from getting everyday places. Talking to the students at Eccles College they have said “This affect our
education as we are missing a lot of time in lesson as it takes over an hour for the bus to come each

Mum and baby knocked over in Eccles.
Earlier this evening a mother pushing a pram was knocked over by a car on Eccles New Road.
Paramedics were called to the scene at the Ladywell roundabout near West One Retail Park at
4:30pm. The mother and her baby suffered only minor injuries and have both been taken to Salford
Royal Hospital for assessment. The driver of the car has yet not been apprehended. If you know
anything about the incident let us or the authorities as soon as possible to apprehend the culprit.
Media Department Berlin trip.
On the 28th April the media department will be venturing out to berlin for an educational trip. The
students will be heading out to film festivals and other interesting tours that will give a bigger insight
into the international media production. Talking the media students going they had this to say. “I’m
really excited to go, it’s the first trip that well be going to as a class and hopefully it will give us a
good insight into our future jobs”. A total of 30 students will be going on the trip with three mentors,
Damen, Ian and Jesse.
Rugby/Football Mach scores Eccles College
On Wednesday this week college football team win the finals with a close finish facing the rival team
of Pendleton College in penalty shootout. The manager says “I thought that the players gave it all
they got and it defiantly paid off you can tell. I am proud that they were able to keep their nerve
through the penalty shootout and came out on top.” The team will certainly be celebrating tonight.
