The document discusses new features in JSF 2.2 including stateless views, HTML5 friendly markup, and resource library contracts and faces flows. Stateless views allow for improved performance by removing view state. HTML5 friendly markup allows using native HTML5 elements in JSF views while still leveraging the JSF lifecycle. Resource library contracts and faces flows allow modularizing and composing JSF applications from distinct modules to improve multi-tenancy and modularity.
Java EE 6 Adoption in One of the World's Largest Online Financial Systems (fo...Hirofumi Iwasaki
Financial companies need Java EE to power its business today. Rakuten Card, one of the largest credit card companies in Japan, adopted Java EE 6 for its online systems rearchitecture. You can learn why we choose Java EE, and our experiences and lessons we learned. This is the first disclosing of a large credit card company in Japan sharing their story.
How to start such a big project? Why we choose it, how we selected the in house development policies, educated ourselves, and developed the additional libraries? How to launch within only six months? What is the key factor driving them as 24/7 critical real financial systems successfully? How to migrate to EE 7 in the future? We’ll answer these questions and any that you may have.
This version is the exclusive session for JJUG CCC Fall 2014 in Japan, binding both JavaOne and OOW 2014 sessions.

Abstract: Java is the world’s most widely used software development language and platform. Java is the choice of more than 9 million developers worldwide and enables uses ranging from the most mission-critical enterprise applications to software embedded in phones, smart cards, and other devices, to emerging environments such as Internet TV. Oracle WebLogic Server 12c, the #1 Application Server in the industry across conventional and Cloud environments was annouced recently. Oracle GlassFish Server is the world's first implementation of the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 6 specification.
Oracle WebLogic Server 12.2.1 Do More with LessEd Burns
Oracle WebLogic Server 12.2.1 (WLS) is the most significant release of WLS since Oracle added WLS to its product portfolio with the acquisition of BEA in 2008. This session by WebLogic developer and JCP Specification Lead Ed Burns goes behind the buzzwords and explains the enterprise value-add brought by WLS 12.2.1 in plain English. Ed infuses his decades long experience in web technologies throughout the presentation, addressing such topics as why app servers are still useful, what role standards play in transitioning to the cloud, and what is the difference between "full stack" and "monolith".
See an interview about this topic at <https: />.
Ed introduces the new version of WLS by taking a tour of two big ticket new features: multitenancy and Java EE 7. Other features such as continuous availability, REST management, and Docker/devops features will also be included.
The multitenancy features in WebLogic Server offer extreme efficiency, full isolation, application portability, and full automation, all in an easy to adopt format.
Java EE 7 is the latest version of the Java standard full stack of loosely coupled, highly cohesive technologies for building enterprise software. EE 7 features new versions of popular standards such as JAX-RS (REST), CDI, Servlet, JSF, JSON, WebSocket, JMS, and more.
WLS 12.2.1 delivers these and other new features, while continuing the promise of stability and scale developers expect.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
