This document provides an overview of a service trip by Duquesne University students to New Orleans in March 2007, 18 months after Hurricane Katrina. It describes the extensive damage still evident throughout the city, with flood lines outlining most houses and businesses over 6, 8, or 12 feet above the ground. The students helped with rebuilding efforts by gutting homes still untouched since the storm. Their first home was in St. Bernard Parish, where debris on the roof showed the water had topped over it. Upon entering, the students' hearts sank at the ruined remnants of the family's memories left scarred by the storm for over a year and a half.
