The University of St. Thomas is investing $100,000 in the neighborhoods surrounding its St. Paul campus to help ensure stability and prevent further encroachment of student rentals. $50,000 of this fund will be used to convert a minimum of three parent-owned or student rental houses into owner-occupied single-family homes with covenants restricting their future use as undergraduate student rentals. Homeowners selected for the program by the University and a real estate agent will receive a $10,000 incentive for placing these occupancy restrictions on their properties. Interested buyers or homeowners wanting to know if their home qualifies should contact the listed real estate agent.
