2. Introduction
 A mechanical engineering student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI),
Clifford “Cliff” Kigar is an active member of the lacrosse community and serves as
a coach for Haymakers Lacrosse and as a member of RPI’s men’s varsity lacrosse
team. Cliff Kigar has been a key player, with accomplishments that include
contributing to the team’s performance in the 2018 North Coast Athletic
Conference (NCAC). He helped RPI run a solid campaign during the Nike/US
Lacrosse Division III Men’s Top 20 and became a standout team member
alongside Zach Lukas. Both were among the top five for points-per-game for the
conference.
The NCAC serves to create a middle ground between education and athletics by
encouraging equal standards that refrain from emphasizing one over the other.
Affiliated institutions align with this goal by implementing rigid academics and a
code of conduct for good sportsmanship. The programs focus on building
intercollegiate athletics that complement academic life and enhance the learning
experience
