4. Family
Background of hard work
Basketball is a tool to my success
Good balance between work and
play
Dad = work hard
Mom = play hard
Brother + Sister = my motivation to
better and achieve more
5. Dad (very hard working person who finds a
way to stay driven through all obstacles)
Shown me the quality of hard work
Shown me what it means to be successful
Mom (knows the balance between hard work
and play. Lives life with no regrets)
Shown me to know how to appreciate my
accomplishments
Shown me to be accountable
6. AAU coach (someone who pushed me
because he saw something in me that no
other coach did)
Shown me the value of loyalty and faith
7. Sophomore year of High school
Basketball - I really started taking in how people
were impressed by my game and this is the point
in my life where I realized basketball at the next
level wasn’t just a dream that I had, but became
an opportunity I could bring to light.
Education - I started to take my education and
grades more serious because of the fact that I
knew basketball was an option
8. Communication - my basketball teammates
see me engaged vocally as a leader everyday
in practice
Competition - my competitive nature comes
from sports in not thinking that winning is
everything, but competing to win or be the
best
Adaptability – people see me able to adapt
within situations daily whether it may be
changes in class or changes practice times
9. Futuristic -This is the only strength I
have that most people do not get to
see often. This is because I usually just
vision my future through my hard
work and dedication
Strategic - I am strategic in planning
what I do on a daily basis. Everyone
can easily notice that I'm organized
with an agenda on my day
10. The greatest leadership failure I have ever
had was being a bad example for my
brother and sister. Not doing well in school
was a big eye opener for them because my
dad is somewhat of a mad man when it
comes to grades. This was definitely a
leadership failure from a role model stand
point, but it is somewhat good because no
my siblings know what the expectations
should be when it comes to grades
