Guillermo Rodriguez has decades of experience in maritime activities from growing up in Cuba around boats and cargo businesses. He started a maritime law practice in 1968 in Miami, investigating cases that took him to ports around Central and South America and the Caribbean. In 2008, he founded International Port Corp. in Florida with the goal of being ready for business with Cuba when it opened up. The company acquired a sea terminal in Miami and obtained Coast Guard approval. It provided mooring and stevedoring services and applied for licenses to carry cargo to Cuba.
