Rahjandyk Nardo Romero Luján is a 17-year-old student from Trujillo, Panama. On weekdays he wakes up at 5:00 am to study for two hours before eating breakfast. He does homework until 11:00 am and leaves for school at 12:25 pm, attending classes until 6:20 pm. After playing video games for 30 minutes, he is home by 7:45 pm to eat dinner with his family. On Saturdays he helps his mother clean until lunch and watches TV in the afternoon. Sundays involve playing ball in the morning, doing missed homework, and relaxing with TV and video games in the evening.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. MONDAY TO FRIDAY
I get up at 5:00 am,
study for two hours,
then at 7:00 am until
7:30 am I eat
breakfast.
4. At 11:00 am until 11:30
am I commanded my
backpack and bath,
after lunch until
12:00 am.
5. I leave my house, go up
the avenue and take
the micro - takes me
15 minutes to get to
school - came to
school at 12:25 pm
and head entered the
classroom.
6. Once in the classroom, I
hope the teacher who comes -
comes at 12:50 pm - makes
his class and so on with each
teacher to enter.
7. From 3:50 until 4:50 pm is
recess, recess over back to
the classroom. Continues the
professor continues until
6:20 pm ending my classes
today.
8. I direct my backpack and
leave the classroom,
immediately followed by
the school. Once outside I
turn to Xbox and play for 30
minutes, I leave at 7:10 pm
ollowing I go to take my
micro.

house, under Cesar

one block before Av. Juan

right until the end.

10. Two houses before the end,
it is my home - the brick,
entered and greeted my

11. Then I put on my pajamas
and go to my room to sleep
at 10:00 pm. And that's my
routine Monday through
Friday.
12. I get up at 5:00 am and run until 7:00
am, return home and eat breakfast.
All morning helped clean the house
my mom at 1:00 pm lunch, then
watch TV until 3.00 pm; since it is
time to 8:30 pm I do tasks that left
me at school.
Then I have dinner, I see a television
while until 11:00 pm and then I go to
sleep.

going to play ball up at 9:00
am after I come and eat
breakfast, after that I finish
homework from school who

Thus ended a long, hard week of work, this was my routine
