Greg Verano has played sports since childhood, starting with soccer and tae kwon do. In middle and high school, he excelled at football, baseball, and wrestling, helping his teams achieve state runner-up finishes. He went on to play junior college baseball, where he was team captain for three years. After transferring, he is continuing his baseball career at Keystone College and enjoying both individual and team success while further developing as an athlete and person through sports.

2. Early Years
š Since I could crawl, I've been throwing,
catching, swinging, shooting, etc.
š I started organized sports at a young
age with soccer and tae kwon do
š I replaced those with football, baseball,
and wrestling from 2nd – 6th grade
š Being bigger, stronger, faster than most
kids helped me when I was young
š I excelled early, in both individual and
team success

3. Intermediate - Middle School
š 5th and 6th grade was when sports started to
become more competitive
š My town's teams were all very good, so all year we
were traveling all around the state of New Jersey,
along with plenty of trips from Boston all the way to
Florida
š In middle school I earned pre-season All American
in baseball, and our football team was very
successful every year
š Our schools only had baseball teams (no football)
until high school, so until then I played Pop Warner
football, through the town

4. Early High-School
š Freshman year football, played QB, WR, RB, LB, SS, and
returned kicks throughout the year
š State runner- ups
š Freshman year baseball, made and started varsity until
2nd concussion of the year (first through football)
š Sophomore year football, split time between varsity
and JV, played SS and WR

š Sophomore year baseball, pitched and played OF,
every-day starter
š Played recreation and church league basketball
during the winters

5. Later High School
š Junior year football, starting QB, SS/CB, and
returned punts
š State runner ups
š Junior year baseball, pitched and played 3B
š Senior year football, season ending surgery
after game 2
š John Basilone Bowl MVP (County All- Star
game)
š Senior year baseball, pitched and played RF/CF
š Bob Burrough Classic MVP, led the state in
doubles for a few weeks
š Graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High
School, 2019

6. Early College
š Originally committed to play football at St. John
Fisher
š Changed decision, went to play juco baseball
š 2019-2022, County College of Morris – covid years
š Received two free years of eligibility due to
covid
š Captain all 3 years
š Biggest individual accomplishment – hit for the
cycle sophomore year
š Team won conference each year

7. Later College
š Won the 2022 ACCBL summer league championship,
hit leadoff and started the OF
š Transferred to Keystone College for the 2022- 2023
season
š Season is still going, successful year individually and as
a team, looking to win championships
š I have learned more about myself as a person, as a
player, and grown more this year than any other

8. Reflection
š Next to my family, sports have been the
number one priority for most of my life
š Baseball is my main sport, but my
favorite memories of my life are of me in
my driveway with a basketball, riding my
bike through the woods, playing in my
backyard sandlot, and playing "jackpot"
or "kill the carrier"
š Sports bring out the kid in everyone, and
I want to keep that alive as long as I can
š Football and baseball ended up being
my two, and I loved being a player of
both
š Sports taught me so much about life and
built me in to the person I am
