Ms. Axxx is a 53-year-old woman who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in a motor vehicle accident in the 1970s, leaving her disabled. She currently lives in a group home. She has been experiencing increasingly frequent and intense episodes of verbal and physical aggression. A neuropsychological evaluation was requested to provide treatment recommendations. The evaluation found that Ms. Axxx has significant cognitive impairments consistent with her traumatic brain injury, including poor memory, difficulty regulating behavior, and emotional lability. Her aggressive outbursts are likely due to frontal lobe dysfunction causing disinhibition syndrome.
