Steps in Multiplying a Fraction by another Fraction
Step 1: Multiply the numerator and denominators.

Another way to Multiply Fraction by Another Fraction
Take note:We can also use cancelation method to multiply fraction mentally.This
is like reducing fractions to lowest terms.
Step 1: Cancel 4 from the numerator and the
denominator as the common factor of 8 and 4
to reduce the fraction.
Step 2: Multiply the fractions.

Multiplying Fractions and Whole Numbers
When multiplying a fraction by a whole a whole number, make the
whole number a fraction by placing 1 as denominator, then multiply.
Simplify whenever, possible.
Step 1: Make the whole number a
fraction with denominator 1 and use
cancellation whenever possible.
Step 2: Multiply factors and simplify.

Multiplying Fraction by its Reciprocal
The product of a fraction and its reciprocal is equal to 1.
Example:

Take note: Cancellation method is a
way to simplify fractions before we
multiply.
Remember:
 When multiplying a fraction by another fraction, multiply the numerators first then the
denominator, then simplify whenever possible.
 When multiplying a fraction by a whole number, make the whole number into a fraction
with a denominator of 1 then multiply. Simplify the product whenever possible.
 Cancellation method in multiplication of fractions is done by cancelling common factors
in th numerator and denominator. If there is no more common factors to cancel, multipy
the numerator and the denominators.
