MULTIGEN is a narrative builder that promotes multigenerational learning among families through playful and collaborative multimedia sharing. It allows family members to spontaneously share media like photos, videos, and stories from anywhere via text or email to stay connected. The goal is to foster more meaningful interactions between younger and older family members through engaging activities like games and challenges to facilitate situated learning across generations.
This document describes a proposed narrative builder app called gen.com that is designed to promote multigenerational learning between grandparents and grandchildren. The app allows family members to record and share stories, photos, and videos. It also includes interactive games where family members can collaborate on timelines and puzzles to explore each other's stories in a playful way. The goal is to create a streamlined and fun platform that facilitates sharing between generations on an equal level.

This document summarizes research on layered models for bridging low-level and high-level vision. It explores this through three problems of increasing complexity: 1) localizing lumbar discs in MRI scans using a two-level model, 2) detecting building facades and estimating parameters, and 3) full scene understanding by inferring a graph structure and semantic labels. The most challenging problem uses a joint model called PS3 to perform parts-based scene labeling at both the pixel-level and object-level simultaneously.
This document provides an overview of a course on digital media. The course objectives are to familiarize students with digital media and its role in advertising, introduce processes for gathering and analyzing digital media information, and give students opportunities to apply digital media knowledge through exercises. The course format will include lectures, readings, guest speakers, and class discussions. Students will be evaluated based on participation, presentations, individual write-ups, analyses, and a group project. The document outlines expectations, requirements, schedules, and policies for the course.
1. The document is Issue 13 of Big Picture magazine, published in January 2011. The issue focuses on cells and cell biology.
2. It contains articles on the structure and function of cells, how cells divide and develop, how cells interact with their environment, the lifespan of cells and what happens when they die, stem cells and their roles in development and medical research.
3. The issue also includes "real voices" interviews with three people discussing how cells impact their lives.

This document discusses the history and current state of client-side storage in HTML5. It begins with an overview of storage solutions from early browsers like userData to more recent innovations like Web Storage. Web Storage, including localStorage and sessionStorage, is described in detail along with how to create and use a Web Database through the HTML5 JavaScript API. In summary, the document traces the evolution of client-side storage and provides technical details on current HTML5 Web Storage and Database specifications.

Poster EWEA "Damping Estimation of an Offshore Wind Turbine on a Monopile Fou...Pieter Jan Jordaens
This poster describes a study comparing techniques to identify damping values of an offshore wind turbine on a monopile foundation. Tests were performed on a wind turbine in the Belwind wind farm located in the North Sea. Time and frequency domain analyses were used to estimate damping from accelerometer data collected during overspeed and ambient excitation tests. Results show ambient vibration tests using output-only identification techniques can provide good estimates of damping ratios for the fore-aft and side-side bending modes of the wind turbine structure.
Sprite is a programmable hearing instrument that offers advantages over other options for school audiologists. It can be fitted to any child using leading pediatric protocols in significantly less time. Studies show improved comprehension and performance for children using the FM advantage. The user interface allows audiologists to begin fitting Sprite quickly and easily.
This document outlines the Quality Matters rubric for evaluating online courses. It contains 8 general standards for course design: Course Overview and Introduction, Learning Objectives, Assessment and Measurement, Resources and Materials, Learner Engagement, Course Technology, Learner Support, and Accessibility. Each general standard has specific review standards that are scored on a scale and evaluated as Yes or No. The rubric is used to ensure online courses are well designed and aligned across their components to facilitate student learning and achievement of objectives.
The document outlines a postulate of diversity endorsed by a teacher preparation program's faculty. The postulate defines diversity as acceptance and respect for individuals' uniqueness across dimensions including race, gender, sexuality, beliefs, abilities and more. The goal is for individuals to understand and celebrate diversity within each person rather than just tolerate differences.

Bitocast - A hybrid BitTorrent and IP Multicast content distribution solutionTiago Andrade e Silva
In recent years we have observed an increased use of the Internet as a means for transmitting
large content. There have been several technology attempts to attack this problem, including
costly distribution networks and, more recently, peer to peer (P2P) protocols. Amongst
these P2P protocols, BitTorrent has proven itself as an effective means for transmitting large
content items and today enjoys great popularity.
Numerous researchers have analyzed BitTorrent and proposed concepts and models to enhance
its reliability, efficiency and fairness. Further, there are proposals to extend BitTorrent
to support on-demand multimedia streaming. In this Dissertation we present Bitocast, a
content distribution system that combines IP Multicast and BitTorrent protocols in order to
achieve a more efficient usage of an Internet Service Provider’s network and reduce download
time when serving large sets of contents to large audiences.
Teaching Computational Thinking Through Scratch Programming 2gie2011presentations
The document discusses a workshop on teaching computational thinking through Scratch programming. Scratch is a free programming language developed at MIT that allows users to create interactive stories, games, music and art. The workshop will be interactive and hands-on, showing how kids can apply computational thinking to create projects in Scratch. Attendees will learn programming and artistic techniques through Scratch's online guides and tutorials.
The document outlines an assignment for a student to create a viral video to promote a new film production company and their upcoming film competition submission. The assignment involves researching digital video technology, generating ideas for the viral video, planning and producing digital video assets, and creating the final viral video sequence following industry practices. The student must provide evidence of completing each stage of the process and have their work reviewed and graded according to established assessment criteria.
This document contains a division quiz with multiple choice and short answer questions. There are questions testing mental math skills with division, dividing with remainders, two-digit quotients with remainders, and identifying mathematical terms. The quiz contains standard grade school level division problems to assess a student's skills and knowledge in dividing numbers with both whole number and decimal answers, and remainders.
