Mr. Ki-tack Lim of the Republic of Korea was elected as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) during the 114th session of the IMO Council. He will assume the position on January 1, 2016 for an initial four-year term. The Council's decision will be submitted to the IMO Assembly later this year for approval. Mr. Lim is currently the president of Busan Port Authority and has over 30 years of experience in maritime administration and seafaring.
